Concerts you have attended?

Aside from seeing a local band at a campground on the beach, my last show was

Friday 20 September 2019
Pop Will Eat Itself
Fête Music Hall, Providence, RI, US

Since I've lost my hearing/started wearing hearing aids I've been to exactly zero concerts. Probably wouldn't go regardless, too many drunks.

The last show I made it to was Tool in November of 2019.
Wonder if the concert experience will ever become like the sports experience, where it’s better at home.

Stay at home for a game you don’t have to worry about paying $50 for parking, $15 for stale beer and another $15 for a hot dog that you’re not sure how old it is. And don’t even get started on the pRice of tickets!

It’s not the same, and I don’t know why. I mean, the view is better, the sound is better, the food is better, a LOT less annoying people around, and it’s crazy less expensive……but I still love live shows.

People are better because they all have become old farts.

They won't let me post the video, but they had an episode of Portlandia where they used a drone hovering over the crowd to remotely experience a concert. You sat at home, wearing a huge surround-sound helmet.

It's a good idea, until you fart...

Now we are getting back in the swing of things. I was disappointed to hear that Celtic Woman did not carry forward our comped tickets so it is not cancelled but we will not be attending. They announced a whole bunch of rescheduled shows and I have booked wheelchair seats for them all. Will also try for Journey/Billy Idol tickets tomorrow. Updated list below.

2021:

  • Celtic Woman [2020/04/03 PPD-->2022 Orillia, ON]
  • Gordon Lightfoot [11/26 Toronto, ON]
2022:

  • Irish Rovers [02/25 Orillia, ON]
  • Bill Engvall [03/11 Orillia, ON] (comedian)
  • Gordon Lightfood [04/09 Rochester, NY]
  • Chilliwack & Streetheart [05/06 Orillia, ON]
  • Ringo Starr [05/28 Orillia, ON]
  • Mellisa Etheridge [06/18 Orillia, ON]
  • Martina McBride [06/24 Orillia, ON]
  • Elton John [09/07 Toronto, ON]

It's official. We are going to Journey w/Billy Idol. Next question: Do we ditch our Gordon Lightfoot tickets in Rochester and see him in Orillia in February allowing us to see The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on 2022/04/09 in Orillia?

Hey, I meant to mention a news piece I saw, about relaxed requirements for entering Canada. So now people can travel in and out on a daily basis. That's good for you.

Yes, it means we would not have had to do the testing for our trip to Buffalo. It was a joke anyways. We did the test in Canada before we even left.

Yesterday I bought a couple more concert tickets for next year. I'm going to surprise my partner for Christmas with Celine Dion tickets and I told him we are going to see Journey and the opening act is Toto.

2022
April 8th - Celine Dion
April 9th - Journey w/Toto
Nov 12th - Elton John

There are much more humane ways to breakup with a partner than torturing him with Celine Dion. That's even worse than Nickelback.

The other 2 concerts are good.

Don't be dissing your prime minster of Canada!

Hey he loves, Celine and have never seen her. Where I have seen her at least once or twice. Plus he is a Nickelback fan. :p
