Just found this thread

Almost every show I've gone to is registered on Songkick:

Highlights:

First concert: Red Hot Chili Peppers at UNH 1990

First club show: Lord Tracy at The Channel (Boston) 1990. Still my favorite show I've ever been to.

First nudity at a show: Scatterbrain 1992 (two girls went on stage and took their tops off)

Show people can't believe I went to: Rage Against The Machine at Paradise (Boston) 1993 (maybe 100 people, felt like about 50)

Concert it took the longest to get out of the venue: Metallica / Danzig / Suicidal Tendencies 1994

Show I went to that didn't happen: Patti Rothberg 1999 (the opening act had all the gear, but they never made it in the snowstorm)

Wildest crowd: Locobazooka 1999 (Slipknot, Static X, Machine Head, Staind, System Of A Down).

Show I embarrassed the performer: Jim Brickman 2002 (gave us paper to write a question, I asked 'why do you do that weird move at the end of every song?' He was asked that question... and denied he did it. The lady asking went "YES YOU DO! At the end of every song you do this weird move with your arms and head!" After that, he only half-made the move - you could tell he was now self-conscious about it.

Show I traveled the farthest to see: Celldweller 2003 (Pittsburgh - from New Hampshire).

Roughest show: Mudvayne 2005. The pit was so bad I was mashed up against the right side of the pit area against a railing. My cousin, a big dude, got hit in the ribs so hard he had trouble breathing the whole ride home. He thinks someone had concealed brass knuckles.

Band I "saw" but don't remember actually seeing: Halestorm 2005, four years before their first album. I don't remember them playing. My band opened. Ra headlined. I was probably busy between those times doing band business. I only remember having opened for them by name, not experience.

Best stage moment: Adam Ezra Group 2006. The opening act was one dude with an acoustic guitar. Some jackass in the audience got a call on his cell and couldn't hear, so he positioned his head between the guitarist and the monitor speaker. The guitarist lifted one leg (Karate Kid style) and KICKED THE CELL PHONE OUT OF HIS HAND! I will never forget that moment as long as I live. Epic.

Failed expectation concert: Misfits 2006. The singer/guitarist (not Danzig) had a "towel boy", a dude who literally stood next to him and toweled the sweat off of him between each song.

Worst crowd reaction to a band: Necro 2007, opening for Gwar and Chimaira. They wanted to be the Beastie Boys circa 1987, but all about violence. A few songs into their set, half the crowd was holding a middle finger up at them, and kept it up there the rest of the set.

Biggest crowd for a show I attended: Rock The Bells 2007 (Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Wu Tang, Cypress Hill, more).

Show my band overshadowed the headliner: Prong 2007. Prong was good, but the stars were aligned that night and our mojo was on. Had the whole place on fire our entire set. It ended with me on my friend's shoulders walking me around the club with my wireless guitar during the last song. Prong just couldn't compete.

Best reunion show: Faith No More 2010. Always regretted not seeing Faith No More in 1990 when I first got in to them. So glad they reunited. Mike Patton is so much fun to watch on stage.

Favorite concert experience: Shinedown 2010. Not because of them though. I rebooted my band lineup in early 2010. This was our 3rd show with that lineup. Played to 1000 people. Still had people asking for autographs 6 hours after our set. Everyone else in the band was brand new... to being in a band. They were all green. The bass player had never picked up an instrument before. The drummer learned drums playing a video game. The next day, I turned 40 years old.

Worst band to see live: Puddle Of Mudd 2012. They (and my band) opened for Seether. You've probably seen the news stories about Wes Scantlin. Yes, he is a douchebag. Even treats the audience like assholes. Insults them. And they sucked live too.

Weirdest venue: Vertical Horizon 2015. In a hotel lobby. Literally standing in a lobby watching them perform. That's no place for a band that had a #1 hit.

This is disappointing. Steely Dan w/Steve Winwood has been cancelled.

That means you're turning 50 this year. :\m/:

Those were all pretty good stories. I'll just add 2 memorable Boston-area experiences I had.

1) Patty Griffin. Yeah, the sometimes-folk/gospel/country singer. Back in '98, when she came out with Flaming Red, she was a rocker. So the story goes like this. We were friends (through our stepdaughter) with rock manager C. Bill Johnson, who lived in Atkinson NH (like us and Brad Delp), and who managed bands like Boston and Extreme. He bought an old bar in downtown Haverhill MA, fixed it up, and called it The Backstage. As you walked in, the bar was on the left, a stage was on the right, with standing room between. There was also a function room in the back.

For his daughter's birthday, Bill held a private party in his club, with Patty Griffin as the featured performer. It was just her and her guitar and maybe 75 people. Her voice and her guitar-playing are supernatural, and we were standing about 10 feet from her. Probably the best performance I've ever experienced.

2) In my brief stint as a single guy in late '95, I went with a friend to see The Rentals (Matt from Weezer's band) at Aerosmith's club, Mama Kin's, on Lansdowne Street in Boston. The 1st opening band was The Badlees (their logo looked like Bradlees). They were as bad as you'd expect. They were followed by Tracy Bonham's band, who were about to release The Burdens of Being Upright. Tracy and her electric violin, along with the rest of the band, were about 5 feet in front of us as she belted out Mother Mother, The One, and a whole bunch of other eventual hits, before most of them hit the radio. An awesome group of performers. The Rentals were good too.

That's a great list of concert memories Sad. It would take some work to catalog the highlights (and lowlights) like that. Out of the 100+ shows that I have ticket stubs for, most of the stories that would go along with them aren't quite as cool though.

@IdRatherBeSkiing Yep 50 this August! The idea of calling a band The Badlees with a Bradless logo cracks me up! If I were in that band, for our CD release party I'd hire Mrs. B introduce us on stage! LOL

I've been hosed outta 2 concerts this summer by this lousy virus - Adam Ant this month, & Squeeze in July. Both postponed until next summer.

And I'm supposed to see Ultimate Fakebook next month, but I ain't holding my breath.

I've seen Squeeze 3 times. Twice back in day, and in recent years with Cheap Trick. Hope you see them eventually.

Those both sound like good shows, I hope that you get to see them.

Both tours just got pushed back a year, so hopefully I get to see 'em both in 2021. They're both in a theater literally a block & a half from my place.
Adam Ant I've seen before - the "Strip" tour back in...1984, I think? But this was gonna be my first time seeing Squeeze.
