Concerts you have attended?

Update to the update - we ended up not going to the Ultimate Fakebook show last night. A bummer, but I knew we made the right decision when I saw pics from the sold-out show. There's 300-ish people crowded into the venue, and I literally saw ONE person with a mask on.
It's about a 30% of people wear them up here. I am one of the ones without. My position given I hate masks is to only wear one where legally required to or requested to (doctor's offices, etc.).

This show was tonight. The concert was good. My son and I both enjoyed it, I liked most of the music. They had a video cameo from Tom Cruise. Apparently one of their songs was in Top Gun 2. What I didn't like about the concert was the crowd. The crowd was filled with annoying millenials. The asshole in front was about 6' 4" and stood almost the whole fucking time. On the occasion I stood he also felt it was nice to wave his hands in the air thus blocking any chance of a clear view. Also smoked weed illegally and was likely stoned as hell. He seemed to stand only when his girlfriend stood (which was most of the concert) so I conclude he was whipped.

If the people in front of me are standing, I’ll stand, but I’m old and would rather sit if I can.

I’m 6’-4” too. I try to be conscious of who’s behind me, but if I can’t see, I’m getting up. I’ll try to sit on the arm or back of the seat if it gets me a little lower for the person behind me, but there’s only so much I can do to try to be polite.

They had empty seats in front of them. No excuses.

Update Update : this happened!!!! First live show in damn near a year. 97 outside, but it was shady. So while we sweated our asses off, we avoided going into the "is it possibly dangerous to be out in this shit" zone.

This was a fabulous show. Setlist below. They Tom Petty cover was pretty good as well. No encores. Encores are all bullshit anyways. Most people stood for this one. The difference, since I was with my wife, we were in the wheelchair section so it was raised and it didn't matter. They had Blue October as their backup band. The band had modest success in the post-90s alternative and/or adult contemparary and/or rock charts. They did have one top 40 hit (peaked @ #31) and one other top 100 hit (#53 peak). They were pretty good as well. Some songs to be purchased on iTunes when I get the chance. Setlist also below.

Blue October Setlist
1. Coal Makes Diamonds
2. Oh My My
3. Say It
4. Fight for Love
5. Into the Ocean

How was the band?
I dig them.
Didn't see this until now - they were great! Only about a 45 minute set, but honestly that was OK w/the heat & all. I've been a fan since their debut, but with this latest album they've really hit new highs. Here's my favorite song on it, from the show :

Over the weekend, just bought tickets for another concert.

Rick Springfield, Men At Work and John Waite all in one night.

I wanted to buy Gladys Knight tickets, apparently my partner isn't a fan of her. I'm a bit shock there.
Sounds like a good combo.

I agree with your partner about Gladys. But I have gone to shows that I only marginally like for both my son and my wife. And she has done the same for me. The only thing for sure is I would never get her to go to a John Mellencamp concert. In return, I can veto an artist I particularly dislike.

They just played Toledo. I was thinking about going, but passed. It sounded like a good show.

  • Styx & REO Speedwagon & Loverboy [08/16 Toronto, ON]

This show was on Tuesday and was fabulous. We enjoyed all the bands. The seating was a bit messed as they oversold the accessible seating (happens -- someone shows up with a regular ticket and wants upgraded to accessible seating because they have walker or wheelchair and they do it). The lady in front of me actually asked us if we minded her standing. As the accessible seating is elevated, we did not.
Styx's Lawrence Gowan is an incredible pianist. A good addition to the band (since 1999).
