Sometimes I wonder.

If I had to guess I would say death is like before you were born....just a nothingness we don't remember. But I do like the story of a hero who died for us and now we can all have a Heaven.

I kinda want to believe like my mom did.

Being raised Jewish, and not having had that drilled into me, it makes no sense to me now as an adult. I'm not saying anything about what's right or wrong (because we don't debate religion here), I just wanted to make you aware of my experience.

Did I tell you guys I'm obsessed with Jesus Christ Superstar?

There was a local playhouse in New Hope PA that my parents took me to a bunch, I saw HAIR and JCSS there a few times. It really made an impression on me.

I now often Youtube the 70's movie songs a bunch.

These are fun ones:

John Legend did a good job as Jesus too. There was an 80's leather jacket Jesus that sucked. The best one is from the 1996 London playhouse company. It's on Amazon Prime.

Jesus is back! And he's been back for a while. And he's Russian!

The real Jesus was arrested too. This probably helps his cause if he's ever let out.

And he's only accused of extorting and emotionally abusing his cult members. By cult standards that's pretty minor stuff.

Speaking of cults, anyone watching The Vow on HBO? I haven't yet but am very interested in checking it out.

I know I'm repeating myself here and sorry if this is weird, I know talking about beliefs can be awkward, but I've mentioned going back to church a few times and that never happened. I guess I consider myself a Methodist Christian still...but when I want to feel good about spiritual stuff I more often than not find myself turning to Jesus Christ Superstar. It seems to sum up the New Testament nicely in a 2 hour stage play. I just bought the 2012 arena tour production of the show and it's just calming to me. I have a bit of a struggle fully committing to the idea that this human man could also be God at the same time. I know my mom fully believed. And my dad didn't believe at all (yet he went to church many times to appease the Mrs.).

IDK, sorry if I'm treading a line here Hectic/mods. I want to believe in this stuff...it would make everything make sense and have purpose. Yet at the same time the logical part of my brain says, "come on dude, what are the odds?"

Either way, these songs slap!

Oh there's a whole bunch of Torah/Old Testament wackiness that I'm sure you as a logical person also struggle to believe is true.
Yeah, like Moses being 700 years old, or Noah's Ark. I also have my doubts about the whole parting the Red Sea thing.

Jesus looks like a rocker from the 90's or something. Look I took 9 shots (years) of christian schooling. Daily we exaggerate even a little bit on stories to people around us. There were 5,000 people at the concert when it was more like 2,000. On top of the fact that some of those tails weren't completely written down until Paul got them 75 years later. Imagine recalling the score of a basketball game or how many points the winning team came back from at the end of your life. Much less two generations of story tellers. Water into wine more likely was one of his peeps rolled into the back of building and found some extra wine and it just showed up and people were in awe.

Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long
