The Button-Down Mind Is Gone. Third. I first became aware of Bob Newhart when I was a child. My uncle had the albums The Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart and The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back and played them for me. Both albums went to number one on Billboard's album chart. I love Newhart's routine about the driving instructors who "face death in a hundred different ways."

Fuller had four minor hits in 1959 and 1961 including a remake of Pee Wee King's Tennessee Waltz. He wrote 11 songs recorded by Rick Nelson including Travelin' Man, which went to number one in May 1961, Young World, A Wonder Like You. It's Up To You, Poor Loser and That Warm Summer Night and wrote Gary Puckett & The Union Gap's top-ten hits Young Girl, Lady Willpower and Over You.

The other three Tops were Theo Peoples, Ronnie McNeir and Lawrence Payton Jr. (son of Four Tops co-founder Lawrence Payton). Near the end, Payton Jr. takes a microphone to Four Tops original member Levi Stubbs, who is in the audience, and he sings one line. Stubbs would die in 2008 at age 72.

I know many of John Mayall's songs. In the 1960s and '70s in Los Angeles, his music was played on KLOS, KMET and KPPC. The song I remember the most is Room To Move, recorded live July 12 1969 at the Fillmore East in New York City. The song was cut from 5:03 to 2:52 for release as a single. It was on Billboard's Bubbling Under chart for only one week, at #102 in January 1970. The flute player is John Almond.
