Clary, born Robert Max Widerman in Paris, was the youngest of 14 children in an Orthodox Jewish family. He, his parents and ten of his siblings were taken by Nazis and interned in a concentration camp during World War II. Of the 13, he was the only one to survive the Holocaust – and yet he had no qualms about playing Corporal Louis LeBeau in a sitcom about World War II POWs in a German stalag. Clary also played Robert LeClair in more than 500 episodes of
Days Of Our Lives, 1972-87, and Pierre Jourdan in 43 episodes of
The Bold & The Beautiful, 1990-92.
