I like this bit o' related trivia

The song was originally going to be titled “Cindy Lou”, named after Holly’s baby niece Cindy and his sister Patricia Lou, but Crickets drummer Jerry Allison asked Holly to change the name to impress his then-girlfriend Peggy Sue Gerron.

Holly obliged, but when the recording engineer threatened to change the song back to “Cindy Lou” if Allison didn’t stop making mistakes, he took a few moments to go through a drumming exercise. Holly liked the feel of Allison' drum exercise, changed his guitar licks to better fit with it, and that became the new beat for the song.

Allison married Gerron in 1958. They divorced in 1965.

On June 12, 1987, President Reagan stood on the West German side of the Berlin Wall and said, "General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!!” Two and a half years later, the wall was dismantled.

Bob Hope made this observation in 1988: "Everything Reagan does, Gorbachev does him one better.
Reagan wears the flag of his country on his lapel. Gorby wears the map of his country on his forehead."
