I was talking about the first Hot 100 chart of 1978 and nysfboy thought I meant the 1978 year-end chart. Nope.

IRBS likes Linda Ronstadt's Blue Bayou. The song was written by Joe Melson and Roy Orbison and first recorded by Orbison in November 1961. It was released as a single on August 1, 1963 and reached #29 on the Hot 100 in October 1963. The uncredited background vocalists are the Anita Kerr Singers.

Only 8 for 79. By this time, all the good music was on the alternative stations. The only thing left on these charts was adult contemporary, and the last gasps of disco.

Eddie Floyd's original version of Knock On Wood reached number one on the R&B chart and #28 on the Hot 100 in November 1966. A live version by David Bowie appeared on an October 1974 album cleverly titled David Live. This was recorded July 12, 1974 at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby Township, a suburb of Philadelphia.

I would take the Dead Horses version over the Morrissey any day, but I really don't have a problem with the 2's original. I kinda like it.
