Ah, man...I can't believe I missed a show where "Sharona" was #1. Overall, I probably love a good 25 of these songs. Weird exception is "SATURDAY NIGHT - HERMAN BROOD & HIS WILD ROMANCE" which I've never even heard of before. let alone actually heard.

Hermanus "Herman" Brood released 14 studio albums and two live albums between 1977 and 2000. A posthumous compilation album included his version of Paul Anka's My Way, a song that was a hit for Frank Sinatra in 1969 and Elvis Presley in 1977.

[2001] Herman Brood, one of Holland’s best-known rock personalities, committed suicide yesterday (July 11), Billboard Bulletin reports. He was 54. The singer/pianist/painter jumped from the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel. On his body, police found a note saying people should make “a party out of it all,” according to reports. The note went on to say that Brood “didn’t feel like it anymore,” apparently in reference to his recent attempts to kick drugs and drinking.

I was just talking about how I find it interesting when a song isn't a hit on release, but gets big later.

The song first appeared on Flack’s 1969 album First Take. Flack’s slower and more sensual version was used by Clint Eastwood in his 1971 directorial film debut, Play Misty for Me, during a lovemaking scene. With the new exposure, Atlantic Records cut the song down to four minutes and released it to radio.
