Casey Kasem's American Top 40 - The 70s

This week is from 11/05/77 and did air Sat @ Noon, even though schedule had been changed on the 70's website.
Not a bad show, but I do wonder why some of the songs sounded like it came from a cassette tape and not vinyl.

Do they actually have the original vinyl for these countdowns or are some perhaps recorded versions (from reel to reel or cassette)?
I know when XM did the countdowns, they would digitally replace some of the songs if they had the recording and it was editable. Perhaps they now are running more of the original content which may sound degraded.
I don't think Sirius/XM is doing anything with these recordings other than airing what the syndication company (Premiere) provides. So, yeah, some of the music is probably not up to "today's" standards. I'm guessing that some of these recordings were not preserved all that well. Back in the 70s, AT40 was distributed on vinyl, and was supposed to be returned to the distributor after airing.
Actually, they told stations to just destroy the vinyl after airing. However, some jocks and even a few fans got the recordings. IIRC, Charis (who restored the AT40 shows) got the shows mostly from collectors.

The 70s has long ended in 1976 if you go by the countdowns they play. Only a few pop up every now and again from the late 70s.
