Linda Ronstadt's That'll Be The Day was a remake of a 1957 hit by Buddy Holly & The Crickets. The song has been recorded by more than 80 artists including Pat Boone, Tommy Roe, Bobby Vee, Lynn Anderson, Foghat, Modest Mouse, Pure Prairie League, the Hollies, the Ravens and the Everly Brothers. Here is the original version by Buddy Holly & The Three Tunes, recorded on July 22, 1956. It never charted.
I know we've discussed this before, but I find this to be inexplicable. It's way up high on my list of great songs.

Yeah, 70s (and early 80s) Heart - I just can't stand it. Before 1983, I think I only like "Dog & Butterfly". And "Even It Up" is ok. That might be it.

The exact opposite for me. I don't like most of the 80s Heart stuff but love the 70s. I don't mind the one about her fucking a stranger to get pregnant but that is the only tolerable one from after "Even It Up" in 1980.
I like some of all of it.
The rockers mostly. Dog and the 80's ballads aren't my thing.
I saw them in the 80's. Had front row seats. (Those where the days before the premium seating when you got to camp out in line overnight to get good (paper) tickets.) My buddy managed a head shop that sold concert tickets and he would call the other stores to find out which ones had the front row seats. We'd pack the cooler with beer and party in the parking lot all night.
So my friends and I are in the front row and Nancy wanders over and reaches out to hand a guitar pick and my buddy grabbed it. No big deal.... She comes back over later and starts to hand me a pick, and at the last second, DENIED! She handed it to my buddy again. DOOD! My only guess is that she thought she handed my the first one.
