10-15 years ago I was sure I'd be really bummed out when Howard retired. But I can only take small doses of him lately. It's like the difference between Kurt Cobain dying in his peak versus hearing the lead singer of like Warrant or Quiet Riot dying 30 years after their last hit. Not the same impact anymore.

So, will Stern say fuck you to satellite radio and come back to FM radio? I know that will be a hell no. I didn't even realize Stern was still on the air. I stopped listening to him quite a few years ago, when he started censorship himself on satellite radio.,

That's the thing, as opposed to Sirius figuring out if they want to pay him, or Stern figuring out if he still wants the job, both sides need to figure out if people still care enough to want to subscribe because of him (or NOT want to subscribe because of him). Most of the people on air now, but may not be for long if Tangerine Palpatine gets his way (Jon Stewart, et al) , or who were on the air but were thrown off for various reason (Conan O'Brien, etc.) are now doing nicely with podcasts, and Joe Rogan, like him or not, has taken over the market of 18-35 listeners that were listening to Stern at one point, but have found their replacement. If I'm Stern I'm getting out of Sirius while I still can, and establishing a podcast and Youtube channel, broadcasting once a week like Stewart, and bringing in some heir apparent proteges to take over for when he does decide to call it quits.

Its certainly not the end of days if Howard doesn't renew. I don't think that anybody, including Howard, would be overly disappointed if he retires.

I can't imagine that the money that Howard would want would be enough for SXM to pay.

The Hollywood Life website says Stern "has been earning between $80 million and $120 million per year with SiriusXM, according to several outlets. In December 2020, the radio host signed a five-year contract extension with the broadcast company for more than $100 million per year. The five-year contract is worth between $500 million and $600 million."

The Times of India estimates Stern's "pre-tax personal income" at $90 million after he pays for "production costs, including Robin Quivers, Gary Dell'Abate and other staff, and studio overhead." After agency fees and taxes, Stern nets around $40 million per year. Based on 120 shows per year, that's $333,000 per show.

Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto, Zack Wheeler, T.J. Watt and and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are jealous.

What happened to Hoard? Just read that he/she called out today. Hahahahahaha.........

Grillo said he's down to 125k listeners now in the article. I disagree.

This is the only Stern forum left, or at least one of the longest up and running ones. How many posters are there - 10 on a good week? LOL

The posters here are the last listeners.

That's a pretty fucked up theory you've got going there. This forum has never had more than a half-dozen posters. If you think you're reaching anyone, you're not.

Seems like you need a hobby.

Oh, come on now. I have plenty of hobbies. Very active.....

One positive thing I read in the Stern bashing article - that Rae is still alive and 98 years old :) That's great to hear. God bless her and hope she lives for a very very long time.

Ha, I rarely get fooled but this I was fooled. 100% made. Cohen made the 'transitions' took me to 75%. Cohen taking the show 50%. That terrible 2 minutes song I was 25% sure he had retired tossed by sirius.

They got me.
