Buying a used mattress.

Ok... I BOUGHT A NEW MATTRESS!!

Goddam, you all are scared of bed bugs. I just call them mattress kittens. I spent $700 for a mattress (pillow top) plus box spring, delivered tomorrow.

For $700, you better believe it. Oh... and you all might find this amusing.. I looked at the shopping list on the fridge this morning and saw "astroglide" on it. Apparently she's not happy with the dry butt sex.

Now you'll need new sheets because regular sheets don't fit well on a pillow top mattress. Get on the Bed, Bath and Beyond emailing list and you'll get a bunch of 20% off coupons.

I had a random question for all of us about sleeping and found this instead of making a new thread. I have to answer Bad's og question first though.

Bad makes a good point at how I don't ever really think about a hotel bed being a used mattress I'm sleeping on every time but I don't give a fuck. I'm happy to be hypocrite here. Buying a used mattress for your home to sleep on every night is completely disgusting.

On to my original thought that is why this 16 year old thread is bumped.

What side of the bed do you all sleep on (looking from the foot of the bed)? Do any of you ever switch sides?

I'm left side 100% of the time, alone or with Pam. Switching sides alone seems nuts to me, switching sides while Pam's here would be appropriate grounds for her to call the authorities and have me Baker Acted.

How TF did you find this thread?

I sleep on the left. I believe it's because of our first house together. The left was in the corner, whereas the right faced the doorway. Mrs. Scotch wanted easier access to tend to the kids and pets.

We have the same arrangement in our house now, but one time we switched. After years in our usual positions - which also had the dog beds on Mrs. Scotch's side - she got a dressing chair, to put on her side. I also have a dressing chair, but it's across from the bed. She has the dressers across from her side of the bed, so the chair had to be next to her.

There wasn't room for the dog beds and her dressing chair on the same side, so at one point, we switched sides, which allowed her to still have the dog beds on her side, but now on the left. It didn't work out. We kept automatically going to the other side. Plus, with the usual setup, Mrs. Scotch was once again near the doorway (which she preferred), so we switched back. But now, the dog beds are on my side. However, Tali sleeps on our bed anyway, so really it's just Penny who sleeps in her bed.

I usually prefer sleeping on my right side, and that's how I find myself sleeping most of the time. Unfortunately, my partner and the dogs tend to take over the right side of the bed, leaving me stuck on the left. We also have a guest bed, which is actually more comfortable than our current bed. It's my old Tempur-Pedic mattress. So, whenever I want a better night's sleep, I simply head to the guest room and sleep there instead.

I had the side of the bed thought and searched bed and mattress. It's kinda weird how the search works every single time. Even if I nail one of the keywords in a previous thread name, it is never on the first or second page. I usually have to go like 7 deep (just ask Pam) before I find the page I wanted.

Oh and cause I tie Phish into everything I just remembered this little ditty:

"When you're there, I sleep lengthwise and when you're gone I sleep diagonal in my bed."
