Bubba's Rant on Sirius

Nah - they could put a chimp in the seat that follows Howard and it would get killer ratings. They certainly don't pay Bubba, so it can't have been a value decision; they must feel that Bubba should have been doing better than he was given his lead-in. The number of people canceling because of this will be negligible.

As Bubba fades back into obscurity, I wonder wow long it will take for him to start attacking Howard again? "Stern could have made them pay me! Cheap Jew bastard!"

I'm not a Bubba fan but he has fans. He's made fans! If it was year one, maybe people wouldn't mind. Now they'll be mass cancellations. More than likely they will be just a lot of secondary subscriptions of Stern fans with more than one radio and they'll cancel maybe all or at least one of the excess. If I were a Bubba and Howard fan and had two radios open, I'd close one. They are truly making all the wrong programming choices. Thought with Bubba gone, it sounds like they might free up that bandwidth (although Stern fans would still want Stern 24-7 so all those "others" would go bye, bye or somewhere else.

Whats your deal? If you don't like Bubba thats fine. Why come in hear and post? Do you feel better now that you got your negative spin out there? Oh yea,People have over the years been after Howard and they can't do shit. They can't hold ratings. So your logic is bullshit. Bubba did very well and way better that O&A.

At btls.com forums a couple people are saying that they called customer service and were told he resigned this afternoon. I have my doubts so take it for what you will....

The CSR's have been saying all sorts of dumb shit. Take whatever they say with a grain of salt.

I think I saw on his forums as well that he was fired, too.

I guess we'll have to wait until Monday.

Everybody thinks they know what's going on. I'm just trying to stop people from posting links to today's show. :jj:

I loved listening to Artie being honest about his feelings concerning other Sirius talent signings from the past couple of years. It makes me wonder if Artie is playing loose by critiquing upper management with an air of confidence of not giving a shit if he gets fired or not.

I don't think you'll be hearing this replayed and dissected on Howard's show come Monday.

Artie just woke up from a nap wasn't eating right

I think that although all of this is VERY unprofessional from Bubba and Artie, its not uncommon to hear this stuff from shock jocks.

Sirius\XM seems to be slowly becoming virtually identical to regular radio minus commercials. They are taking drastic measures to try to become solvent.

Lets face it. So far everything that SatRad has done has not turned a profit. Bills are coming due fast and there are going to be some huge changes coming in 2009 for Sirius\XM. We can only hope that Sirius\XM doesnt piss off most listeners in the process.

I'm a lifetime sub for Sirius....as long as the same company is around Im sure I will continue to listen to something from time to time.

They are going to HAVE to make things start to work and soon.

By the way I am a mark for Bubba and will miss him ranting about current events and Nascar. I will try to follow him as best I can but I doubt he is going to be in the Cincinnati market any time soon.

If this was true, SiriXM wouldn't be letting him go. Mel's a smart guy; if Bubba was worth it, he'd pay.

Seeing as Arbitron ratings for sat. radio are in their infancy - and I haven't heard of any being done since 2007 - there is no way to tell for sure exactly how Bubba performs compared to Howard, or anyone else.

That being said, last year, the top 2 channels on Sirius were 100 and 101. They topped XM's top channels too. FMQB: Radio Industry News, Music Industry Updates, Arbitron Ratings, Music News and more!

SiriXM claims to have their own way of collecting ratings, and that they are confidential. As to 100/101 being the top stations, that has everything to do with Howard and nothing to do with Bubba. I guess we'll see which hypothesis is right very soon.
