KOST 103.5 in Los Angeles began playing Christmas music November 10. All I Want For Christmas Is You is played approximately every three hours. So far, the station has played only two non-secular Christmas songs: O Holy Night by Martina McBride and O Holy Night by ....wait for it.....Mariah Carey.

In 1989, Vince Vance & The Valiants released a song titled All I Want For Christmas Is You. It made Billboard's country chart in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1999. In June of this year, Andrew Stone ("Vince Vance"), who had co-written the song, filed a $20,000,000 lawsuit alleging Mariah Carey plagiarized and exploited his song and made "undeserved profits" by recording a song with the same title. Well, song titles can't be copyrighted. On November 1, Stone dropped the lawsuit. Here is Vince Vance & The Valiants' All I Want for Christmas Is You. I feel obligated to suggest that Mister scotch's community band play this song instead of the Mariah Carey song.

That group is local so their song is played all the time here during Christmas season. The lady’s vocals bug me so I avoid this song also.

That "lady" Is Lisa Layne. She was born September 27 1962 in Tyler, Texas and was a member of the Valiants for five years. From 1995 to 2002, she played Patsy Cline in the touring stage show A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline. Layne has released three CDs, Shades Of Blue in 2001, More Than Diamonds in 2003 and All I Want For Christmas Is You in 2004. Yes, she re-recorded the Vince Vance & The Valiants song – and the Jordanaires sang background vocals. Here is a live performance:

How many songs did Michael Jackson have on the entire Hot 100 when Bad - easily one of the most anticipated albums ever released - came out?

One.

If we could track what people were playing on their home stereos that week, how many songs from Bad would be in the top 10?

TEN!

One album would have put her at 19 career top 40s, ahead of these acts:

Gloria Estefan - 18 (includes with MSM)
Lionel Richie - 17
Bon Jovi - 17
Rick Springfield - 17
Sheena Easton - 15
