I have to correct Mister sadchild. Well.....maybe I don't have to – but I will. Bring It All To Me was by Blaque (who were known as Blaque Ivory outside the United States) and *NSYNC and reached #5 on the Hot 100 and #15 on the R&B chart in January 2000. Blaque's first single, 808, was co-written by R. Kelly and reached #8 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the R&B chart in June 1999. I remember both songs.
In music, "808" refers to a pounding bass line. It's named for the Roland TR-808 electronic drum machine, which was manufactured in the early 1980s and is featured in several hits including Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing and Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody. In the Blaque song, "808" refers to a different kind of pounding, if you get my meaning.
I Do peaked at #73 on the R&B chart in May 2000 but failed to make the Hot 100. The single released to radio was by Blaque. The version that included Lisa Lopes – who had signed Blaque to her production company Left Eye Productions and gotten them a recording contract with Columbia – was available on a five-track CD maxi-single.
