I spent over 30 years in NH. Basically, in the densely-populated southeast corner of the state, people take those college degrees, and get a job in Massachusetts. There's no industry or high-tech in NH. Also, all the good hospitals are in Boston, and most of the good restaurants are in Mass too.
The NH seacoast is only 13 miles long, and yet they decided to displace some of that with a nuclear power plant. Public school systems are relatively poor, as teachers get low pay, because the state has no sales or income tax. In fact, the tax situation leads to poor services all-around. And then when you retire, you're stuck paying high property tax for the rest of your life.
The state also has a very incompetent and backward government. It's Live Free or Die, no helmets required, or seat belts, or car insurance; yet pot and gambling are illegal. They are legal in all the surrounding states. And the sale of liquor is exclusively controlled by the state.
But at least Portsmouth is nice, and I live right near it now - only in Maine.

It's funny how it's illegal to be gay in Iran, but being transgender is ok.
A lot of gay men would rather transition from male to female, then be jailed or put to death.
