Annoying Words & Phrases

I'm heading towards 42 years with the same job, for the same department. Even the same company name. If I worked on-site, I'd have my own parking spot.

First off, cool and well done.

Second off, did they ever give you a watch?

They gave my dad a watch at one point. I think it was a Bulova with SmithKlein branding.

Every 5 years, we get to pick from a catalog. Obviously, the value gets higher as you accumulate years. I never picked a watch, but they've had some decent ones.
I have a man's ring, a full size digital camera, a backup battery, and a Bluetooth speaker. Other things too.

The big thing was the rocking chair for retirement. They stopped that 2 years ago.

They do that with my company. I selected some Airpods for my 25th.

That's an example of the engineer humor/social skills you were talking about in some post a few days ago and it's awesome.

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
You'll need to narrow that down for me. Is it funny because it's a rocking chair, like you're going to retire and immediately transition to being an old fart in a rocker? Or is it funny because the pathetic employees expect to get it, and now that it's been eliminated they're pissed?

It's actually a really nice, solid wood chair. Probably worth $500 or so. But I won't be getting one.

Wow dude.

I was intentionally being nice last time saying you are obviously cooler than your pocket protector brethren but I now see that was stretching the lengths of our friendship to its breaking point.

This morning on NPR, a rabbi mentioned wars, violence, anti-Semitism, social issues and other problems affecting "the four corners of the earth."

News flash: The earth is round. It does not have corners. (And if the earth was a cube, it would have eight corners, not four.)

I have this annoying broad at work who ends every email with some sort of motivational phrase and they're always different and they always make me want to kill myself and others.

I literally typed corny phrases to end work emails and these that came up are less corny than what she actually sends but it's something like this.......

Teamwork makes the dream work.

Together everyone achieves more. (Acronym for TEAM).

OH MY GOD GUYS.

I may have brought this up before in this thread I don't care to look back it's just so fucking annoying. First off nobody at my goddamn work knows how to reply to our boss. They all have to reply all and that's already pissing me off. Then this chick replies all with these dumbass fucking phrases and I want to to go get the hammer that is in my little toolbox, drive over to her property and bash her in the head with it.

Of course that's a joke. I'm not actually going to do that but I do kind of want to pick her up by the seat of her pants and throw her in a canal.

And the new one is always more annoying than the last. It's how it works. This girl has an uncanny ability to be corny and annoying as shit.

Technically, it is motivational then. Not a good motivation. But motivational.

Ok yeah this is just awful.
I want to to go get the hammer that is in my little toolbox, drive over to her property and bash her in the head with it.
Again, technically, it is motivational.

Yeah. Just for those not schooled in the terminology, the word "mentor" is from a figure in Greek mythology, named Mentor. So mentor is not a form of the word "ment", and "mentee" is just made-up stupidity. The person who is mentored is called the "protege'".
