Annoying Words & Phrases

I agree that "prebuttal" is dumb. But also, any child knows that flies are attracted to honey, and not vinegar. You should try it for yourself, and report back.

I have no desire to attract flies – but I thank you for your interest. From the YourDictionary website, here is another stupid neologism:

cashtration: (slang, humorous) the loss or lack of money (blend of cash and castration)

" Happy Monday" Is annoying and people who say it in the office are vapid empty vessels who unknowing to them have had their souls sucked completely from their bodies due to the redundant miserable boredom of cubicle work.

Or it's just the stupid hot chick in the office. If she says it then it's fine and I actually think it's kind of cute.

Here is today's unnecessary "pre-" word, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times:

With perilous winds forecast, fire engines pre-deployed
LAFD stages extra trucks in high-risk areas to avoid issues from the Palisades fire.

Pre-Deployed I'm trying to think of a way that word doesn't bother me...

What about tanks that are going to get loaded up on cargo jets on the way to war somewhere?

Yeah I don't know that still bothers me. Those tanks are being like organized for deployment. Well I guess technically they're pre-deployed if you can just put pre in front of anything. I'm pre-work right now. Before you got to this sentence you were pre-reading it and now that you've read it, you're post reading it. Yeah, this whole thing bothers me.

Speaking today in a video call to the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Elon Musk declared, "There's a roughly 450 federal agencies of one kind or another.”

He should have said "There are," not "There's." The "a" is unnecessary and "of one kind or another" is meaningless and unnecessary.

"Imma"..... The slang I for "I am"

I AM not sure which way it bothers me more, when I read it in a text from someone or I hear them actually say it.

I'm pretty sure the text version bothers me more because I can forgive a lot of vocalized slang as simply saying the correct with words but they sound different due to an accent or a dialect or whatever.

Drew Baldridge co-wrote Imma with Paul Sikes and Trannie Anderson – yes, that's her real name – and recorded it for his 2022 album Country Born. The Black Eyed Peas' Imma Be went to number on on the Hot 100 in March 2020. Imma agreeing with JHDK. Imma think "Imma" is a stupid word spoken by stupid ignorant schmucks.
