I know people who are in their 50s or 60s who are always going to Disney World, without kids. One of my closest coworkers has long owned a timeshare down there, and he and his wife go at least 3 times a year.

It's one thing for you to make a day trip out of it (and you're single and in your 30s), but flying down there 3 times a year from Massachusetts as a senior couple, seems crazy to me. There are so many places in the world to visit, why do that? And they have to put up with all the crap that parents have to put up with - inflated costs, long lines, crowds, expensive yet crappy food, everything being Disney-themed, etc. And all for what? To go on the same rides? Ooh, maybe there's a NEW ride. Or they redid a section of the park. Like really?

And these people talk amongst each other like they're planning a middle-east invasion; but it's all about discounts, and lines, and crowds, and access. For me, as I get older, I want less and less to do with crowds and commercialism.
 
I'm a big Star Wars fan. Have been since 6. But watching adults in their 40s 50s and beyond doing the 'immersive experience', walking around the park dressed like jedis and activating noises throughout the park did not look tempting at all to me. Kinda pathetic, actually.

Case in point:

When my son was 10, we saw some kids doing 'extra stuff' around Magic Kingdom -- activating special areas to make special things happen (videos showing up on random windows) and follow a storyline. He loved it.

A couple months ago (now he's 16), he saw people doing something similar in the Star Wars areas. He lasted about 20 minutes and said, "This is kinda lame." And we moved on.

Blues guitarist Kal David (real name: David Raskin) died today. He was 79. He released eight albums and recorded with John Mayall, Illinois Speed Press and the Fabulous Rhinestones and is known to Disney fans as the voice of Sonny Eclipse, an audio-animatronic singer/organist at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

 
Since 1989, the Walt Disney Company has owned the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. It serves as the venue for a majority of the studio's movie premieres. An updated Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland will feature the El Capitoon Theatre. It will house the Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway attraction.
