I'm heading up to Melbourne later today to FINALLY make the freaking will and other docs official and then (you guessed it) I'll be doing at least 2 or maybe 3 days at Disney. It will be another relatively cheap trip too because I'll drive back and forth from Melbourne and spending the nights there so no motel fees.
I'm going to make a point of seeing the Happily Every After fireworks show one last time at Magic Kingdom since there will be a new firework show when the yearlong 50th anniversary starts on October 1st and they aren't coming back once that's over, they will be replaced with yet another new show.

Disney went well last week. I did Hollywood and Animal Kingdom on Wednesday then on Thursday did Magic Kingdom from about 4pm to close and watched Happily Ever After. I didn't have the best spot, I was a bit far down Main St. since I didn't try to get a spot until about 10 mins before the show, but it was nice to see.
Now that I know for sure I have a new gig I'm thinking of making a day trip to Magic Kingdom again tomorrow. I made the reservation, I'll see how I feel in the morning. One can never have too many Disney trips under his belt.
Oh and right before the fireworks I did the Peoplemover for a second time and got an amazing shot of 2 Peoplemover Cones in back to back cars!!! The Peoplemover Cones are celebrities. It's a thing only total Disney nerds like me get excited about but it's always a treat to see them.

So I'm at Disney. I decided to drive up here tonight so I could get a good night's rest so I can do a full day in the park tomorrow and not be completely beat for the drive home. Tomorrow, the 29th is the official last day of Happily Ever After. I'm not sure if I'll stay until close to see it again but it certainly is tempting.

Ha, no it dies a horrible death tomorrow and never comes back.
The one they're doing for the next full year for the 50th does seem pretty cool though. They're getting all of Main St. involved in the show:
But the really cool thing will be epcot. They installed LED's in all the joint or meeting sections of Spaceship Earth and it's going to twinkle. Also the major new firework show with all the barges that have been sitting in the lake and testing for what seems like forever will finally premiere.

I'm a big dummy. I left Disney in the afternoon yesterday cause I figured I had already seen Happily Ever After at MK for a final time last week. Turns out yesterday was the first day of BOTH the new epcot firework show AND Spaceship Earth twinkling! They are both really cool:
I did have a great time as always though. Did my 3 favorite MK rides (Carousel of Progress, Splash Mountain and Peoplemover) along with some others. Then I stopped by Hollywood just to buy a silly keychain. A really expensive $16 keychain. And I so rarely buy stuff in the parks I forgot about the 20% passholder discount so I wasted $3.20. Whatever. My car was seriously lacking any Disney vibes so now that has been remedied.

He's a new character from my 3rd favorite WDW ride, Runaway Railway. He's the last thing you see at the end of the ride. He's so cute and loves his new home on my dash.

When Disneyland first opened in 1955, adult admission cost $1 and child admission cost 50¢. The cost of the individual attractions ranged from 10¢ to 35¢. Parking was 25¢. As of today, Disneyland admission on the highest-demand days – holidays, summer weekends, spring break – costs $164. The parking fee rose another $5 and is now $30. A family of five visiting Disneyland on a highest-demand day will have to pay $850 – and that's not counting food and souvenirs. Yikes!

Guess where I am?
Well since I'm posting in this thread it's pretty easy to figure out. So I decided to drive up here after work today and bought 2 nights at my go to motel (for a whopping $89 including a $5 tip to the maid...and she won't show up until after I check out) and I made a reservation for Magic Kingdom tomorrow and Animal Kingdom on Wed. I figure I'll do Magic during the day then head over to epcot at night because I REALLY want to see Spaceship Earth's new LED lights (that's by far my most anticipated new feature for the 50th anniversary) and it will be fun to check out the new firework show over there that seems like it took years to build. Then Animal on Wed before probably heading home early.
Also, Disney Genie, Genie+ and Lightning Lane started last week so I may check that out. Genie is a day planner addition to the app. Genie+ is the new FastPass that now costs $15/day and Genie+ Lightning Lane is for two individual rides in each park that are a separate, per ride charge. Those are crazy expensive...like $15 JUST FOR RISE OF THE RESISTANCE. It's nuts. I doubt I'll do that. It seems like crowds are low so I probably won't even do Genie+ but I'm not mad about that at least. Like Channel posted above, Disney always gets more expensive. People have been bitching about how much it costs since before I was born so it's not surprising they found a way to get $15 more out of me. I will do it when I'm here at busy times.
DUDE! How was your trip? You should have given me some warning and we could have hung out. Because everyone knows the only way to make your vacation better is to involve me in it.

DUDUE! I'm abt to get evac'ed from spaceship earth. Sadly I'm at a part that's only like 3 mins from where we get off normally but it's still cool. My first evac from a ride! I'm happy I got here early enough that this won't cause me to miss the fireworks at 9. I post pics later.

It was a spur of the moment trip celebrating our wedding anniversary. Love your knowledge of the parks! Maybe next time. Be prepared to be bored!

I'm watching Hamilton for the millionth time and feeling a bit patriotic right now.
In The American Adventure in the American Pavilion at epcot it's so cool how the animatronic Franklin and Twain actually narrate our nation's history to us in both physical, musical and video form all at once. That show/ride always make me misty. Really. I love how they cover the rough parts too like slavery, Civil War, Suffrage, Vietnam etc... My mom was big on patriotism and my dad was able to live the majority of his life here after the war and become a prosperous American and they were both able to come together to make me an American. I'm really lucky and so were both my parents for what Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington and all out Forefathers did for us. And I don't want to leave out the American Indians either. They had a full on society and culture here before any of our Forefathers that we still benefit from and can learn from today.
Then in the Hall of Presidents animatronic Lincoln stands from his chair to address the audience. That's no small accomplishment. Walt made that happen when he first showed off the attraction at the World's Fair in like the 50's. The leadership/strength/ingenuity symbolism there is painfully drenched. It always reminds me of what the real Lincoln did with the Gettysburg Address, standing and making the most powerful statement our nation has probably every seen. Lincoln did what he did as a leader of men to make life that much easier for creative types like Walt to advance tech to such a point that he could showcase Abe's accomplishments to people (pretty realistically) a century+ later.
We really are lucky to be alive in this time and to have been born where we were. Standing on the shoulders of fucking giants.
I need another Disney trip asap.
