How many planes do you think you see pass by on an average day. I don't mean how many planes total pass by in your area. I mean how many do you specifically see on an average day?

I would say for me it's probably three. And the fort Lauderdale airport is not that far from me. It's like 20 miles so there's way more than that but I notice three.

When I posted this I was not paying attention.

I'm posting here cause I went out to may car and saw 4 planes in the sky.

Now I have a small, private airport like 3 miles from me and then I have FLL (Ft. Lauderdale) airport about 10 miles from me.

So there are way more planes for me to observe at any given minute than I was talking about in 2024. Also I got my Distance from FLL way wrong back then. I now want to beat this record of 4 at once and I'm hoping to spot 5 tomorrow.

I see planes all the time when I'm out in the yard. At Night, if I'm in my room, I will see one through the window. I live 10-12 miles from the airport.

That's why I thought it was an odd question. I'm in the flight path of both Logan and JFK. Plus Portsmouth airport and Pease AFB is a few minutes from me. And there are several regional airports where smaller planes come and go.

So there's probably a plane flying over every 10 minutes. The military cargo planes are huge, low, and loud. The prop planes are low and loud too. Plus, we have medivac helicopters flying over.

But your question referred to seeing planes. And I'm simply not outside looking into the sky much. Plus, most of the planes are obscured by clouds or trees.

I just saw a plane in the living room. I was lying on the couch watching the new Star Trek and saw a plane through the edge of my window above the TV. It was flying fast, a half second moment in my life. I think it is the first time I've seen a plane from that window.

If you had Spirit reservations over the past 2 weeks and didn't come up with a backup plan, that's kinda on you.

I've been reading about how Spirit could fold at any moment for at least that long.

How did your brother die?

Hit by a plane

....like a plane crash?

No like being hit by a car, but it was a plane.
I'd just say he died in a plane crash, and leave it at that, as long as they don't inquire any further.

It reminds me of a bit some comedian has, about a relative of his who died on 9/11. But he didn't work in the towers, and he wasn't a first responder. He just got into a car crash in uptown Manhattan, and it happened to be on 9/11.

A few times a week, I get these giant military cargo planes going right over the house. They're taking-off or landing at the Pease Air Force Base runway at Portsmouth International Airport. Sometimes, they circle several times before landing. This plane went over the house at 3,000 ft four times. The flight path is in green, it turns yellow when it lands. My house is the blue dot.

I also get a steady stream of jumbo jets from Europe, going to JFK in NY. But they're at 40k ft, so it doesn't bother me. Those 3 where I highlighted the flight path are coming from Abu Dhabi, Dublin, and London. If there's no military plane activity, the Europe flights will go right over the house.
