Adventures In Koopland

So no internet yet...I'm actually cool with it...until yesterday when I noticed a few workers up on the cell tower right by my work. It's super cool how high up they are, hanging by wires, and also must be a painfully hot job up there but I digress.

I think the cell tower is shut down as they work on it so my cell web service has become incredibly slow. I may not post much till it's back, hopefully tom but who knows.

Please, try to survive and carry on w/o my constant, brilliant musings.

Godspeed to you all.
I don't know how much longer I can wait for a manscaping update.

I ever tell u guys the story of hendrik and 10am and 10pm?

So the old man, as smart as was as a GlaxoSmithKline scientist, had this 1 ocd quirk. The only ocd I ever saw in him.

He'd like to find a digital clock to watch when they'd turn from both 959a or p to 10a or p. His logic was that those 2 times a day are the only times when you can see every single digit on a digital clock change at the same time. He thought that was neat.

So when I was living w him in his last couple years I'd do it w him and remind him when it was getting close. And I straight up told him, "dad u know when ur dead I'm gonna inherit this weird ocd clock thing for the rest of my life and it's ur fault" and we would giggle abt it

Ff to him being dead for years and I have all my casio alarms set to 959 a and p and I feel bad if I miss watching the change to 10.

It's nice tho. Twice a day I get to think abt the man I've loved most in my life and get a little chuckle at the same time.

Started watching saving private Ryan yet again. After like 20 eps of Brooklyn 99 needed something serious.

Which leads me to think abt my dad of course. Sorry to always be a bummer w his stories. He had lots of great stories after coming to PA but they're much more light heated.

So bag of rice in a concentration camp story. I'll make it quick. If I'm repeating sorry, tell me.

This was after he was taken away from his mom and moved into an adult man camp cause at 16 the Japanese considered u a man.

So he's sitting in one of those barracks like u see the Germans had for the Jews

(not comparing, obviously the Jews were worse off. no mass murder in the Dutch camps... starvation and slave labor yes. But no chambers...just want to paint the picture of how my dad was living)

So as he told the story there was a kitchen at the front of the barracks. Basically just serving hot water w a 10th a cup of rice as ur food for the day.

Well this one dutchman couldn't take it anymore. Can't blame him, can't call him selfish, just human nature. He sunck his way in to the kitchen and ate like all the rice they had raw. Apparently that's a really bad idea.

Uncooked rice in huge quantities really expands in the stomach and it wound up killing him.

Idk. Hendrik was a boy when this happened and I'm retelling the story so some details may be slightly off but the overall story of the war and camps is written in history so I tend to believe the things he told me. Like the dude (like my dad) was half dead anyway so eating too much of any food could kill u in that state. But my dad told that story dramatically more than once.

I got a ticket yesterday. First one since the whole dui drama you all know abt and that was 2013 before I faced the music in 2017.

I didn't come to a complete stop before making a right on red. I guess it was my fault. It's always scary when a cop lights you up. And I was on a bank run for work.

Whole thing took about 15 mins. He ran my shit (he was an old white guy in a SUV, clearly just a traffic cop) and all he asked for was my license. I was scrambling to get my registration...it's in my somewhat overstuffed glovebox and my insurance is on my phone but he didn't care...he came back with the ticket, $263. Fuck. So I'd rather (be skiing) just pay it but if I take a 4 hour driving course I think it make my insurance not skyrocket. I'll have to look into that.

Anyway, right after he let me go I watched him catch another guy like 2 blocks away.

I got trapped by one of those in early 2020. After covid delays, I selected "meet with prosecutor". He offered a reduced charge with no points and lower fine in exchange for guilty plee. I took it. I saved money and risk of not winning in court and he got a gold star on his conviction list.

That's pretty harsh for a bullshit violation like that.

But that reminded me of an old story. Many years ago, a friend and I did a car trip to Canada (Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, and Toronto). In the city streets of Montreal, I almost hit a pedestrian when I was attempting a right-on-red. It was a woman who tapped her hand on my hood, and sternly said "No, no, no! No right-on-red, this is not America!". I wonder if they've since changed.

As far as I know unless marked, there is still no right turn on red in Montreal.

That's interesting. As far as I know. And admittedly I've only ever been from Maine to Florida and as far west as Tennessee, but in all those states I think right on red is OK unless marked. I assumed that means it's OK in all the US. So opposite of Montreal.

It's also ok in most of Canada .... just not Montreal.

So major, major news!

Remember how I mentioned I had an amazing boss who was married to a woman and has 2 kids? She quit so isn't my boss anymore. We got to talking and.....

Well I'm her mistress now!

We are in the midst of an affair. Never done this b4. It just kinda happened...and now it keeps happening. And it's fun.

I know everybody says this but she tells me thir marriage is basically only for the kids. They sleep in separate room and the wife travles for work so is never there.

I'm her 3rd bf ever and she never had full on sex w a guy b4 me. Kinda hot right? This could be like one of those romance novels they sell at the grocery store.

Who knows where it's gonna go (probably heartbreak) but for now it's a shit load of fun.
