Adventures In Koopland

dog: yes if you drink the juice it will kill you. od on nicotine. there are tons of things in any house that if you drink, you die.

battery: anything with a battery can explode. it's fun to watch those videos of someone's pocket exploding when they are walking around the mall but those are outliers.

vapor: i have no delusions that vaping is safe or healthy. i do however think that it is healthier (and much cheaper) than regular smoking. i know i used to smoke around 3/4 of a pack per day and i had a cough. when i started vaping, the cough went away and has not come back.

If you just want nicotine, why not chew nicotine gum? No one else will know.

Habit.
My friends that used to smoke, say that the habit of reaching for a cigarette would often make them crave one nearly as much as missing the nicotine.

Yesterday was a big day. It was the half way mark of my probation! Only 6 months left. And tomorrow will be the 8th of my 12 required counseling sessions. Those sessions are a bit of a joke. There are about 20 people in each class and about half the class does nothing but crack wise for an hour. It's supposed to be and hour and a half each week but it's always an hour and it seems the goal of each class is to see who can get the biggest laugh from the room. I'm also at 79 of my required 150 community service hours so I am ahead of schedule on that front.

No a/c in Koopland this evening. I called the repair man and he won't be here until tomorrow afternoon. It's not so bad right now, about 84 outside and the thermostat says it's 78 in my place. I'll see how it goes tomorrow. This is a good test run for possible long term hurricane related a/c outages.

Back to the freakin vet today. My stupid kitty is having the same symptoms that led to the crystals diagnosis the last time. It's been like 4 days now and she really seems uncomfortable so something has to be done. I am not looking forward to another $500 vet bill. I was hoping she would get better on her own but that doesn't seem to be happening. In fact for the past 36 hours she seems worse. I'm going to a different vet this time because last time was on a Sunday and there were very few open options to choose. Hopefully they can fix Athena and not break my bank in the process.

763 mutha ucking dollars! And that's just to find out what is wrong with her. I have to go pick her up in 3 hours and god knows what they are going to tell me then. If they say it's another $500+ to heal her I'm going to have paid $763 just to find out I have to kill my cat.

Expensive vet. Usually a checkup for my dog is about $200. They usually talk me into about another $200 of "necessary procedures and tests".

May I suggest a gofundme page? People have them for a lot more trivial reasons.

I think checkups and trying to diagnose an illness are very different in terms of cash. Last time I got them down to $350 but that was after they cut out a bunch of stuff cause I told them I couldn't afford it. Since it is the same thing happening again I'm now getting all the tests I skipped the first time around.

I'm kinda making light of the situation but I am very nervous right now. I really can't be spending much over 1k. If they tell me they found something and it will take over $300-375 to fix then I am going to have a very sad night. Here's hoping it doesn't come to that.

Getting a DUI, falling into a Publix canal, etc...All things I find way less embarrassing than the idea of being an internet panhandler with a gofundme page.

Speak to the vet if it comes to that. I am sure they will arrange an installment plan. It's not like putting her to sleep will be much less than $400 anyways.

Ok I just got a vet call. Turns out it's not the crystals this time but an anal gland abscess that is making it painful for her to use the cat box. So he's going to give her a kitty enema, slap one of those silly cones on her head and send her home with a bunch of painkillers. Those 3 things fall right in $300-$375 range I was talking about so I won't have to kill my cat! Good news! Overall very expensive and a giant pain in the ass (both figuratively for me and literally for Athena) but good news nonetheless!

Oh and btw/after having forked out around 1.1k to the freaking vet today the thought of him having to reach in and pull shit out of my cat's asshole makes me smile! At least he is being forced to earn my cash.

I doubt the vet him/herself did it. Probably some intern or guy getting his community service hours in after a DUI that actually did it.
