Adventures In Koopland

Anonymous people on the internet who know a bit about you are good for therapy if you just want to dump. As long as you don't think any of us are qualified therapists, or have played one on TV, it is all good.
Everybody knows all Canadians are nice. Doesn't being nice qualify you as educated therapist?

I don’t think any of us are going to call you a pussy for doing this.
Maybe for having a cat and a candle fetish…..but we can talk more about that next month.

Personally, I think you’re brave as hell for stepping up and doing this.

Mister scotch, that "old saying" originated from something Dodgers manager Leo Durocher said to Dodgers broadcaster Red Barber. On July 5, 1946, the Dodgers were in first place in the National League. The Giants were in last place. They had split a doubleheader the day before. In his book Mel Ott: The Little Giant Of Baseball, Fred Stein quoted Barber telling Durocher, "Your guys were lucky to split yesterday the way the Giants were hitting, especially those home runs.” Durocher scoffed, “Hell, they were nothing, just cheap Polo Grounds specials.” Barber said, “Come on, Leo, be a nice guy and give credit where it’s due.” Durocher said, “Nice guys! Do you know a nicer guy than Mel Ott? Or any of the other Giants? And where are they? The nice guys over there are in last place!”

Durocher made two observations: the Giants are "nice guys" and they're "in last place." Somehow his observations merged into the saying "Nice guys finish last," something he never meant to imply. And, as I often say, almost everything reminds me of a song.

I've been to rehab once before but it was on my parents' dime and I told my mom like hey I've got a problem and she was like yeah you're going to rehab. He was in like 2005 or so. I was like 20. Anyway, the reason I'm telling this story is because some Green Day album came out right about them and I remember this friend from rehab and I who I still talk to today John we would joke about how Green Day has some really good songs but the longer they go the faker they are at punk

This thread has turned into the ramblings of a lunatic and I have another thread called Battlestar Galactica rambling of a lunatic attack so I guess it fits.

Sorry, I went and threw out two giant trash bags worth of beer cans and when I was tossing them in the dumpster one of them are leaked and spilled a bunch of like stale beer over my face. It's a pretty good indication of where I am in life, where that's the thing I have to deal with.

Just when you think things couldn't get more embarrassing that happens. My life is a cartoon of a fuck up.

But it all gets fixed tomorrow 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. they pick me up and that's that. This might be my last post here. I don't know. Maybe I'll post again tonight. Maybe I'll post again tomorrow from the drive. Either way I'll see you guys on the other side and I imagine things will be much much better. I'll post again around the 31st.

You've all been nice and I thank you for that and once I get through this I expect every single one of you to bust my balls for this. If you don't, you're not my friend.

Good luck!
There will be fantasy football waiting for you on the other side too. (You’re in the league unless you decide not to be.)

Hey guys. So hot back on Tues. Did a week of detox and a week of regular treatment. So far I'm still sober over here. I'm actually in a zoom AA meeting as I'm writing this.

I'll probably go into detail later but wanted to check in and thanks for the support everyone.

Didn't really watch much eagles. The one game was on prime and we couldn't log into that. Fortunately no Dallas fans even tho there were a couple Texans there.

So Pam told me this guy at work took her on a date and I got angry and punched a hole in my wall and now my hand is all fucked.

so that wasn't a great decision.

also I now have a hole in my wall.

bad choices all around.

its all good now with us so that's a plus at least.

And, as I said above, everything reminds me of a song. The Packers were a Stax Records studio band led by Charles "Packy" Axton. The group included Booker T. Jones and Steve Cropper of Booker T. & The MG's. Jones and Cropper co-wrote this song with drummer Al Jackson and Nathaniel "The Magnificent" Montague, a DJ at Los Angeles R&B station KGFJ. The label credited him as "Nathaniel Nathan."

Sorry to hear that man.

Not to kick you when you're down, but what did you expect? She broke things off with you because you were partying too hard, weren't nice to her, and she couldn't take it.
You stayed clean for 99 days, went on a bender, was mean to her, and it drove her away again.

This is the tough love part.
You've got to start liking yourself, stay clean, and stop sabotaging your relationships. It's the only way that you're going to keep a good woman around.
It's obvious how happy you were with her, and how miserable you are without her. Get out of your own way, and think about your long term happiness instead of a couple of days of binging.

It was actually a few months ago but I was told details of what he did on said date and I didn't react well. It was all consensual and nothing really bad but def bad enough to warrant a hole in the wall.

Also they saw Mission Impossible 7 so now I can never see that movie. I like Tom Cruise flicks.

I have a song like that. A girl done did me wrong back in the day and she liked the song "Come Baby Come" by K7. Every time I hear it, I can only think of how I felt at the time. Not that it's a great song, but the memory makes it worse.

I want to start by making it very clear how lucky I know I am. I mean we're all lucky we just randomly were born in America and we have internet where we can talk to web friends (and some guy from Toledo) when we like.

So Hendrik had a will that stated I take everything over at 40. I've been 40 for 3 months now and it seems like this week it will all be transferred to me. It's all in a Schwab account. My aunt and uncle have been in control of it since he died in 2019 and they managed to grow it in that time. Cause they know what they're doing, I don't.

So the plan is to just leave it exactly how it is, in the various stocks, then my aunt said we could have a powwow every 3 months or so in order to discuss if any changes should be made.

But also, let's not forget I'm an addict. I manage to screw up anything good in my life after a while (just talk to Pam for confirmation on that front). Thus the fear.

Also while all this is happening they told me I should get a new car...by new I mean used of course. Aunt Sally is hanging on to about 20k for the car fund...and I totally agree with that decision. They both said they'd come down here and help me buy it. So far we're looking at a 2020 Santa Fe with 10k miles on it. It's going for a tad over 17. I've never bought a car without my dad's help...and I guess he's helping me now...but what I mean is I had my first car that my parents just gave to me then all my other cars have been bought used from people at my parent's retirement community. I got the RAV in 2018 and it's treated me very well, I love that car. But it is on its last legs. So now I'm going to buy one outright from a dealership. That's why I want Sally and Paul here. Dealership bros are kinda intimidating. Paul is a man I actually love and he is still somewhat intimidating to me at times. He was chief of the Melbourne FD so he knows how to deal with frat bro types and can counter any of that bro dealer shit and be on my side.
