Nasty reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, number one on the R&B chart and #2 on the Hot Dance/Disco Club Songs chart. Here is 58-year-old Janet Jackson performing the song in 2024 in Newark. What the heck is she – and her male dancers – wearing?

I always hear his last name as if it was an a. So I have to spell it not how it sounds to me which sometimes leads to error.

Well, blow me down! (I mean that figuratively, not literally.) Don't forget Popeye creator Elzie Segar.

This has been driving me nuts for years. I just heard "Legs" by ZZ Top yesterday, and I feel like I'm losing my mind. The version they play is not what I remember. So I looked it up, and sure enough, there are 2 versions. The original is used in the video. But the alternate version is what I mostly hear now.

The alternate version starts with a guitar riff, and a synth explosion. The space in between chords has these 3 short, descending accents thrown in twice, between the sustained chords. When the lyrics come in, It's like "She's got legs" dut dut dut......... dut dut dut "Knows how to use them" dut dut dut......... dut dut dut. The original version doesn't have any of that.

Original release (song starts at .30)

Alternate version

Yeah I remember having the album taped to cassette and that version was different than the radio/video version. The radio/video one is the better one IMO.

Remember, these days "literally" means "figuratively". So if it's figurative, you have to say "Literally blow me down!" That way, people will know you don't mean it LITERALLY, of course. I appreciate you. And LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm about 2/3 through the countdown and realized I haven't posted this yet.

Don't pick the candidate I went with, it's at #15.

Also, the other two people playing picked songs from my 'earlier' list. And they usually win.

EDIT: My highest candidate peaked at #5

JUN 89

EARLIER
Milli Vanilli "Baby Don't Forget"
NKOTB "Please Don't Go Girl" EDIT: "I'll Be Loving You"
Richard Marx "Satisfied"

Bette Midler "Wind Beneath"
Martika "Toy Soldiers"
Michael Damien "Rock On"
Fine Young Cannibals "Good Thing"

LATER
Prince "Batdance"
Richard Marx "Right Here Waiting"
