Like last week, my list feels thin again. I think I should have at least one more candidate than the two I've got

EARLIER
ONJ "Physical"
Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That"
J Geils Band "Centerfold"
Vangelis "Chariots Of Fire"
Stevie/Paul "Ebony & Ivory"
Human League "Don't You Want Me"
Survivor "Eye Of The Tiger"
Steve Miller Band "Abracadabra"
John Cougar "Jack & Diane"
Chicago "Hard To Say I'm Sorry"

Men At Work "Who Can It Be Now"
Bill/Jennifer "Up Where We Belong"

LATER
Toni Basil "Mickey"
Lionel "Truly"
You missed only 2 #1s from 1982. Your order was pretty good until "Jack & Diane". "Mickey" was also after "Truly".

Neither of the ones you missed would be candidates. But clearly you do not love Rock & Roll. No dime for the jukebox for you. You also missed the last #1 "Maneater".

Next week 1984.

I listened to pieces of it last couple days. I wish the editing people at SXM were not so lazy. For at least the #2 and #1 song and the closing trailer, the pad date just had the name of the VJ who introduced it. I had to listen to find out what the next year was. Also I wish they would co-ordinate who tells what story. Hearing the same factoid coming out of the song as what we heard going in is stupid.

Good 12

That Judas Priest song title has always irritated me. The expression is, "If that's what you think, you've got another think coming." Whenever I hear someone say "You've got another thing coming," I always ask, "Another thing? What was the first thing?" Of course the person will just look confused and not have any answer.

"Think," as a noun, is defined by the Brittanica Dictionary as "chiefly British, informal: an act of thinking about something. I'd have another think about doing that if I were you. Feel free to have a good think about it before you say yes." "Have another think coming" is defined as "informal: used to say that someone is wrong or mistaken. If he thinks he can fool me, he has another think coming."

With all due respect to your Edwin Newman-like fascination with grammar, it's not uncommon for an expression to get modified over time from it's original wording or meaning, due to any number of factors. The modification often results in a phrase that makes no sense, but since most of these sayings have become detached from their original intent anyway, it doesn't matter.

"You've got another thing coming,"
Comes from threesomes where there's two guys and one girl. Sentence: "He just finished, but girl look out - you've got another thing coming."
Ray Parker Jr.It's Our Own Affair
I laughed as soon as I saw this. Because a while ago I remember commenting that unless Parker is singing about busting ghosts, he must be singing about cheating.

Perhaps if I had heard it back in 1982 my impressions may be different. Timing is everything.
That makes sense. Vanity 6 was a Prince protégée group which added to their allure. Vanity pursued a solo career and was replaced with Apollonia. I wasn't as crazy about Apollonia, but "Sex Shooter" did manage to peak at #85 in 1984.
