I had gotten burned out on Keep Your Hands, but agree that Battleship Chains was pretty good.
That album takes me back to my first band in high school. We used to play Hands and Battleship.

25. JAMIE - RAY PARKER JR.
19. UNDERSTANDING - BOB SEGER AND THE SILVER BULLET BAND

34 I am sure was a Christmas hit. If you didn't listen to Christmas music you would not hear it. I do not remember Understanding and had forgotten it existed but the melody was familiar when I heard it.

22. EASY LOVER - PHILIP BAILEY WITH PHIL COLLINS

This being a duet kinda means they've both had her?

Could they be singing to each other? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

17. DO WHAT YOU DO - JERMAINE JACKSON

Wow, totally forgot this song existed.

I wish I had still forgotten.

#83 Kenny Rogers "The Greatest Gift Of All"

I think this was a Christmas hit of his. If not already in top 40 by 12/22 chart, its not going to be.

@IdRatherBeSkiing I lol'd twice reading your post: #22 (a three way?) & #17

@HecticArt Totally agreed on Frankie. In the UK, Relax hit #1, Two Tribes hit #1, Power Of Love hit #1 (and Relax climbed back to #2 underneath it) and then Welcome To The PD hit #2. BANG!! But in the US, Relax didn't make the top 40 at first (on re-release it finally did). Two Tribes and Welcome were in the 40s and Power didn't chart at all. VERY underrated here in the States!!

PS: Rub a dub...?

Hippy Hippy was written by Chan Romero & first recorded in 1959.

Montana has a state song, a state ballad and a state lullaby.

And, for goodness sake, Democratic Rep. Jacob Bachmeier of Havre would like to see the 2019 Legislature declare the "Hippy Hippy Shake" Montana's official rock and roll song.

It was written in 1959 by Chan Romero when he was a 17-year-old student at Billings Senior High School.

Good 18
Okay 7
Bad 15

Cool concept, much much better than having people vote on 'the best party songs of the 80s' or whatever. I enjoyed it, but also wondered how they decided which four three-weekers to air, because there are 27 more. The only thing I found is that they were the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th three-weekers of the decade (with the first being Sir Paul's live "Coming Up" in June 1980).

I also see that 1985 was not represented at all (but could have been, because there were 4 three-weekers that year which labelled on the list below)

40. Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do) - Christopher Cross

"Always sounds like he's driving by, the guy" - Richard Jeni

33. Roll With It - Steve Winwood

I thought this song (and album) was a big step down from Back In The High Life. The three top 40s from Roll With It were okay, but not even close to BITHL.

25. Magic - Olivia Newton-John
8. Call Me - Blondie

They may be two of the longest-running #1s of the 80s, but today these would be filed under "at the end of this old map lies.... (Raiders Of The Lost Ark snippet)"

14. Say Say Say - Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson

The 2015 remix is interesting to listen to:

"Paul remembered that there were two unused lead vocal performances by Michael and himself. We rearranged the vocal sequence and inverted the original performance so that Michael opened the first verse instead of Paul, to give the song a different take to the original version."

3. Endless Love - Diana Ross & Lionel Richie
