Won't make the top 40*
#46 Weather Girls "It's Raining Men"

This song sucks the big one and I understand why it never made the top 40. What I don't understand is how it can be played on 80s on 8 or FM stations now when they play 80s stuff. Let it die.

#57 Clash "Should I Stay Or Should I Go"

Thought this one would have done better.

Great song

You have no taste.

The song is campy and entertaining. It was the right song for the right time. It’s memorable. It’s an ear worm. I bet it’s in your head right now

22. I KNOW THERE'S SOMETHING GOING ON - FRIDA
It's a good tune with a killer sound.

Hoo! ... Ha! ... Hoo! ... Ha!
Ha!

5. HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF - DURAN DURAN
3. STRAY CAT STRUT - STRAY CATS
I never appreciated Duran until:
A. I dated a girl that was into them.
B. I heard Power Station. That's when I realized just how good of musicians they were.

I didn't quite get the Setzer vibe when they first came out, but once I realized how much of a bad-ass he is, really grew to like them.

#57 Clash "Should I Stay Or Should I Go"
#94 Donald Fagen "New Frontier"
I thought they both went higher.

#79 Berlin "Sex (I'm A)"
I always dug Berlin.

If this week's avatar theme is "extinct sirius/xm channels", please pretend I changed mine to "Movin EZ". I miss that channel. Played the best old fogie music of all time.
Not surprising given my penchant for liking old lite rock favorites, I used to love Movin' Easy!

Good - 26
Ok - 7
Bad - 7

I feel like 1983 and 1984 are the best representative years of the 1980's "sound".

10. PASS THE DUTCHIE - MUSICAL YOUTH --- catchy tune!

#46 Weather Girls - "It's Raining Men" --- no song makes me change the channel quicker than this one. Can't stand it.

2. SHAME ON THE MOON - BOB SEGER AND THE SILVER BULLET BAND ---
Good song, but I'm always surprised it charted so high. It just doesn't get the airplay at all compared to his other hits, many of which didn't make it all the way to #2.

14. DOWN UNDER - MEN AT WORK
I bought a bottle of Vegemite about a decade ago. Must be an acquired taste because I didn't care for it.
In fact a decade later, if I open the bottle, the substance looks identical to when I first bought it. Must be like Honey, never really goes bad...

It does not surprise me at all that YOU like this song. I think that is all that needs to be said about your taste in music.

Agreed.

I see you too have some taste!

Would have been his only #1 if Michael wasn't there. I remember hearing it almost as much back in the day.

I have often wondered if it some sort of inside Aussie joke. Pretend to like something and laugh when tourists and foreigners order it and try it.

This is one of those songs I think is bad, but if I'm in a situation where I can't get away from it I can sing along with it in a joking/goof-on-it fashion and have fun. On the flipside, I will admit it's catchy and the girls do sing it with a boatload of sass and pizzazz. "...absolutely soaking weeeeeeettttt! It's-a rrrrrainin' men-ah!!"

@HecticArt
Power Station - great album start to finish. Love the drums.
Clash - peaked at #45. Allllllmost made it..
Fagen - peaked at #70. I'd-a thought it woulda gone a lil higher too.

@Aaron
Movin EZ - it was the perfect channel for the long ride home after a sweaty loud cacophonous gig with my heavy rock band - Carole King, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin, Dan Fogelberg.... The perfect antithesis!

Good countdown

36. CALLING AMERICA - ELO

I didn’t know ELO charted in 1986. I thought their run in the top 100 ended five or six years before.

24. LET'S GO ALL THE WAY - SLY FOX

Last time I checked, Sly Fox doesn’t have this video on YouTube.

You can take the lyrics for I Am The Walrus and input them in this song.

Sitting on a corn flake
Waiting for the van to come

I am the walrus (I am walrus)
I am the walrus

Oh oh oh, I am the egg man

9. LIFE IN A NORTHERN TOWN - THE DREAM ACADEMY

Since I don’t see any Madonna, this would probably be my favorite song on the countdown

The strings. The soft guitar. The chants.

Part of the video is shot in Manchester, England. The other parts in the Aliquippa, PA. A city just outside Pittsburgh

@IdRatherBeSkiing Two weeks in a row where good outweighed bad for me. Wow!!

Good 19
Ok 7
Bad 14

39. I'M NOT THE ONE - THE CARS

Wish I heard this one more often

36. CALLING AMERICA - ELO

Lost hit for sure!

35. NO EASY WAY OUT - ROBERT TEPPER

Was glad to rediscover this one on Onederland a while ago!

31. NIGHT MOVES - MARILYN MARTIN

First time I've ever heard her on a song that isn't "Separate Lives"

25. (HOW TO BE A) MILLIONAIRE - ABC

I've got the album - the uncensored one where in the song "A To Z", band member Eden says, "Hi. I'm Eden. I want you to kiss my snatch."

16. RUSSIANS - STING

Not a song I'd listen to regularly, but it is a cool sounding one.

4. THESE DREAMS - HEART

Interesting VJ story about Nancy Wilson having a cold that day and wanting to retake the vox, but the producer said no. I always thought her voice was a little off and gritty.

Won't make the top 40*
#52 Sam Harris "I'd Do It All Again"
#54 Pat Benatar "Le Bel Age"
#69 Alisha "Baby Talk"
#77 Barbra Streisand "Somewhere"
#78 Eurythmics "It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)"
#79 Chicago Bears Shufflin' Crew "The Super Bowl Shuffle"
#83 Divinyls "Pleasure And Pain"
#84 Isley Jasper Isley "Caravan Of Love"
#85 Dokken "In My Dreams"
#94 Alan Parsons Project "Stereotomy"
#100 OMD "Secret"

*Billboard.com is still broken

39. I'M NOT THE ONE - THE CARS

Wish I heard this one more often
There's always room for more Cars.

35. NO EASY WAY OUT - ROBERT TEPPER

Was glad to rediscover this one on Onederland a while ago!
80'S BAGGY PANTS!!!!!

I had forgotten about this song too.

16. RUSSIANS - STING

Not a song I'd listen to regularly, but it is a cool sounding one.

I liked this era for Sting. Especially the jazzy stuff. He had a monster band back then.

#85 Dokken "In My Dreams"

Thought this would have gone a little higher.

Big Time? Eddie & the Cruisers?
Eddie & the Cruisers used to remind me of someone else back in the day, but it wasn't PG.
