33. NEVER - HEART

Good song from a decent album.

26. SUNSET GRILL – DON HENLEY

'Boys of Summer' was the better song off this album, but this is pretty good too.

25. WE BUILT THIS CITY - STARSHIP

To think this is the same band that performed 'White Rabbit'.

15. LOVIN’ EVERY MINUTE OF IT - LOVERBOY

My high school cafeteria had a jukebox (yes, really!) and this song got lots of play. Brings back some memories.

13. HEAD OVER HEELS – TEARS FOR FEARS

I don't think these guys got the credit they deserve for being a great band.

12. I’M GOIN’ DOWN – BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

Good one from a classic.

6. LONELY OL’ NIGHT – JOHN COUGAR MELLANCAMP

One I'd like to hear more of instead of 'Jack and Diane' and 'Hurts so good' ad nauseam. And a good year for classic albums.

3. TAKE ON ME – A-HA

That video!

2. MONEY FOR NOTHING – DIRE STRAITS

That video! (and Sting singing backup!)

40. ONE OF THE LIVING – TINA TURNER
36. BOY IN THE BOX – COREY HART

Forgotten hits that were hits mainly because of the album's previous hit(s)

30. LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME – THE THOMPSON TWINS

Listened to this album 100x back in the 80s

25. WE BUILT THIS CITY - STARSHIP

I know this is often called one of the worst songs of the 80s, but I don't mind it.

15. LOVIN’ EVERY MINUTE OF IT - LOVERBOY

I don't hear this one enough. It's not great, but I'd like to hear it more than once a decade.

14. FREEDOM – WHAM!

Just awful.

13. HEAD OVER HEELS – TEARS FOR FEARS

LOLZ: Head Over Heels: Literal Video Version from DustFilms

11. FORTRESS AROUND YOUR HEART - STING

Still a fantastic song.

This.
Pretty much word for word.

Sure, Built This City is a pretty fluffy pop song from a band like this, but other than the fact that it was way overplayed, it wasn't that bad. It had a lot of hook.

39. ROCK THIS TOWN - STRAY CATS

Always did like this song, and it really displays what a stud Brian Setzer is on the guitar.

33. PRESSURE - BILLY JOEL

Arguably his best song? Take John Lennon's song writing style and add McCartney's flair for melody and you have this song.

32. STEPPIN' OUT - JOE JACKSON

As underrated an artist as they come.

28. SOUTHERN CROSS - CROSBY, STILLS, AND NASH

Always a favorite by these guys, too bad Nash and Crosby hate each other now so there's no hope of a reunion.

25. NOBODY - SYLVIA
19. WHAT'S FOREVER FOR - MICHAEL MURPHY
11. BREAK IT TO ME GENTLY - JUICE NEWTON

Back in the days when Country Music used to chart with Rock and Roll on the same countdown. Good times!

14. GLORIA - LAURA BRANIGAN
12. GYPSY - FLEETWOOD MAC
10. ABRACADABRA - STEVE MILLER BAND
9. I RAN - A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
8. YOU CAN DO MAGIC - AMERICA
7. SOMEBODY'S BABY - JACKSON BROWNE

Not a bad one among them, also some call Abracadabra Steve Miller's worst song (I beg to differ!)

2. WHO CAN IT BE NOW - MEN AT WORK

I've always thought Colin Hay was an underrated songwriter, listen to his solo stuff and you'll see what I mean.

1. JACK AND DIANE - JOHN COUGAR

Gag!! Most overplayed song on classic rock radio. I like Mellencamp as an artist, but he's got WAY better songs (mostly on the Scarecrow album).

Was afraid it would be a typical 80/81/82 show loaded with stuff my mother-in-law would love, but would put me to sleep. It turned out to be pretty good though.

40. GET CLOSER - LINDA RONSTADT

Haven't heard this since the early 80s. Not that I love it, but hearing it was like finding an old photo of people you haven't seen in decades. #nostaligia

34. MICKEY - TONI BASIL

Learned that she was almost 40 when she was in this video dancing around as a cheerleader. I woulda guessed she was in her late 20s.

10. ABRACADABRA - STEVE MILLER BAND

Jumped the shark? It was his last top 40 hit. Sure it's catchy but it doesn't 'rock' like "The Joker", "Rockin' Me", "Jet Airliner", etc.

3. EYE IN THE SKY - ALAN PARSONS PROJECT

Had no idea this song was big enough to reach #3. Knew it was a hit, but I would've wondered if it had even reached the top 40.

I'd argue it's not even in his top 10. Yes, it's a brilliant "concept" song, with great imagery in the lyrics, and a musical style that's ready for background in movies and TV commercials; but it's just not a pleasant song.

Off the top of my head, these are all better songs:
Piano Man
Captain Jack
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
She's Always a Woman
New York State of Mind
Only the Good Die Young

"The Stranger"
"Pressure"
"Allentown"
"Uptown Girl"
"Keeping the Faith"
