That's funny, because I was just thinking I actually really like this one!
Who knew they were Swiss...

I also really like the Glass Tiger song and Darryl Hall song.

The piano on Captain of her heart has a piano line that reminds me of Kool & the Gang song "Too Hot"

Btw, I can't stand Captain of her heart. I do love Too Hot, tho

A lot of Adult Contemporary stuff on this particular countdown, and hey, the Beatles (of course I think Ferris Beuller was out about this time which featured the song prominently).

Other than that I don't see anything short of Billy Joel that I still listen to.

Gag!

Ferris Beuller was a summer movie release in 1986 but as we all know it takes time for a song to move up the charts and thats what happened in this case. And yes Twist and Shout was used in the movie. It was used in the parade scene.

Said scene:

40. HOW CAN I FALL? - BREATHE

Guilty pleasure. Own the album, but only for the 3 hits. HEAR THAT MARK GOODMAN? THREE HITS NOT TWO!

39. FAST CAR - TRACY CHAPMAN

Classic

37. INDESTRUCTIBLE - FOUR TOPS

Missed this one back in the day

35. ANOTHER LOVER - GIANT STEPS

Had long forgotten about this one. Not a fan but nice to hear again for the first time since '88.

33. TIME AND TIDE - BASIA

Who?

27. WILD, WILD WEST - THE ESCAPE CLUB

Guilty pleasure.

23. STAYING TOGETHER - DEBBIE GIBSON

Eww like totally gag me to max...

22. PERFECT WORLD - HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

They pretty much lost me in '86. Not very good after Sports/BTTF.

17. NOBODY'S FOOL - KENNY LOGGINS

Long forgotten. Decent hook, the rest is garbage.

12. PLEASE DON'T GO GIRL - NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

On my worst-songs-of-all-time list. Right next to "Hangin' Tough" and "I'll Be Loving You Forever".

4. ONE GOOD WOMAN - PETER CETERA

Long forgotten. Not good, but at least it has a BPM over 50.

39. FAST CAR - TRACY CHAPMAN

This one has held up, and sounds like it could have been written today. If you wanted to introduce this artist to someone, this and "Give me one reason" would be two nice songs to start with.

38. DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT (TIL IT'S GONE) - CINDERELLA

I was never big into the hair bands from that time, but I never really classified these guys in that genre. They had a bluesier twist than most of the throwaway "metal" bands of that age. Listen to a song like "Gypsy Road" for an example.

34. BAD MEDICINE - BON JOVI

Their last real good song? I remember it going downhill from here.

33. TIME AND TIDE - BASIA

This is one that got a lot of play on the "smooth jazz" format in my town for a while (when there was a smooth jazz station, thanks Clear Channel)

30. WHEN IT'S LOVE - VAN HALEN

The first album after the "split" with DLR and with Sammy Hagar. Van Hagar had it's moments, but I always thought the David Lee Roth years were better, although "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" was the best album of this era.

16. FALLEN ANGEL - POISON

One of the last countdowns featuring this band? Guns and Roses came along and started the process that bands like Nirvana finished of killing off hair metal. The reason why Bret Michaels is now doing reality shows and releasing "country" records.

1. DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY - BOBBY MCFERRIN

You COULD NOT get away from this song for years.

This was the first single from the album New Jersey. I think everything after this album was downhill, but not necessarily downhill from this single. All 5 singles from New Jersey made the top 10. Since then, they've only had 2 songs make the top 10. It's their 2nd biggest selling album, but I'd call it their best.

I think you're right about the downhill after New Jersey, sadchild.

For me, their first album was their best.
Roulette and Get Ready were great tunes for me back in the day.
I still break into playing Get Ready on my guitar from time to time. It's funny how you can remember how to play some songs after years, and forget others after a couple of months.

33: DREAMER - SUPERTRAMP

Whoa forgot about this one. Even Jon Anderson of Yes is like "Damn that's a high voice!!"

29: EMOTIONAL RESCUE - ROLLING STONES

So terrible. How did this peak at #3?

28: SOMEONE THAT I USED TO LOVE - NATALIE COLE

One of the VJs said that after "Someone That I Used To Love" in 1980, Natalie Cole would go into a career slump until "Unforgettable" in 1991.

1980 "Someone That I Used to Love" #21
1985 "Dangerous" #57
1987 "Jump Start" #13
1987 "I Live for Your Love" #13
1988 "Pink Cadillac" #5
1989 "Miss You Like Crazy" #7
1990 "Wild Women Do" #34
1991 "Unforgettable" #14

That's some "slump"!

27: MIDNIGHT ROCKS - AL STEWART

'Give me "Time Passages" or give me no Al Stewart'. That's my motto.

20: LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME - BOZ SCAGGS

'Give me "Lido" and "Lowdown" or give me no Boz Scaggs'. That's my motto.

13: ALL OVER THE WORLD - ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA
10: XANADU - OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN/ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA

When I was 11, I liked this stuff. Now, not so much.

I pulled-up both on YouTube. Never heard Midnight Rocks before, it's not in any of their popular song lists. Look What... is at least a familiar song, though it sucks.

BTW, I really don't think Martha is still with SiriusXM. I think they just keep playing her promos & countdowns with her on them.

Just my opinion
