And least favorite. Endless love is not quite as bad as You Don't Bring Me Flowers by Streisand and Diamond.

And the funny thing about You Don't Bring Me Flowers is that is was NOT designed as a duet. Both Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand had recorded solo versions of the song but DJ"s in Lexington KY and Detroit spliced the two versions together and as a result there was such demand that the artists were compiled to record an "official" version of the song. Just a little backstory on how an unlikely duet was made. Link to how it happened.

I heard that from Kasey on one of his countdowns.

A lot of Adult Contemporary stuff on this particular countdown, and hey, the Beatles (of course I think Ferris Beuller was out about this time which featured the song prominently).

Other than that I don't see anything short of Billy Joel that I still listen to.

20. HEARTBEAT – DON JOHNSON

Gag!

Walk This Way by Run DMC.

It revived the career of an all but forgotten Aerosmith, but effectively ended that of Run DMC's

Their next album Tougher Than Leather was successful (not as good as Raisin' Hell IMO but still solid). It hit #9 on the 200 and went platinum. I remember hearing "Mary Mary" "Tougher Than Leather" and "Run's House" all the time (at parties, friends' houses, etc).

I think the end was "Ghostbusters"/"Pause". When they switched to New Jack Swing, they were absolutely terrible. The album still hasn't gone gold (all of their earlier albums have). Frankly, they lost me in the first 20 seconds of "Pause" back in '89. That was the last I've heard of anything from this album. Nobody I've ever known has played any song from this album ever.

I remember Mary Mary, and the Ghostbuster song, but not much else after Walk This Way

40. PARANOIMIA – THE ART OF NOISE WITH MAX HEADROOM

WTF? Interesting but bizarre. Would never have pegged this for the Hot 100, forget top 40.

39. WE DON’T HAVE TO TAKE OUR CLOTHES OFF – JERMAINE STEWART

Guilty pleasure. But it should be sung by a female. What dude cares if a girl wants to skinny dip? "Show some class. Why you gotta move so fast?" - puh-leez... Kinda like hearing ONJ sing "Physical" - originally written for a guy and make more sense that way. "I took you to an intimate restaurant then to a suggestive movie. There's nothing left to talk about unless it's horizontally" - that's a dude move. Most girls could talk until the sun came up if you didn't keep making advances on them. "I've been patient, I've been good.." Huh? What girl has to wait patiently for a guy to give it up?

32. SWEET LOVE – ANITA BAKER

Amazing story about her. Makes you wonder how many other amazing voices we've missed out on.

22. HEAVEN IN YOUR EYES - LOVERBOY

Whoa. Forgot this one existed. Not very good, but nice to hear it again once after 30 years.

18. MISSIONARY MAN – THE EURYTHMICS

One of two songs I like from '85 onward from these two. Dark. Not poppy.

16. THE CAPTAIN OF HER HEART - DOUBLE

One of my all-time most hated songs evar.

9. DREAMTIME – DARYL HALL

I don't hear this one enough. I cranked it 3x this weekend, singing along like a cat in heat.

8. DON’T FORGET ME (WHEN I’M GONE) – GLASS TIGER

I like this one more than I should.

3. FRIENDS AND LOVERS – CARL ANDERSON AND GLORIA LORING

Yawwwwwwwwn!!
