Waiting on a Friend is in my Top 5 Stones songs of all time (Can't You Hear Me Knockin', Gimme Shelter, Street Fightin' Man, Waiting On a Friend, Sympathy for the Devil, in that order). It IS one of the least Stones like songs in their entire catalog (For the record, I concur on Emotional Rescue, it's crap!).

I like a whole lot of Stones songs, but Waiting on a Friend is an aimless, wandering, tango-ballad that doesn't offer any strong melody lines. I do like some of your other favorites, and we agree on Emotional Rescue; so there's that.

Miss You is a 4 star song for me, but Friend is 5-star and on my 333 list. That solo at the end alone should disqualify it from being one of their worse, wouldntcha think?
Haha, Waiting on a Friend is 5-star, but Barracuda is zero, right? And when did you start rating sax solos? Besides, it's just some noodling-around, or what could be called "vamping". It's not notable in the least, other than indicating that the song's about to blissfully fade-out.

FUCKIN-A YES!!! ALL DAY!!!
And when did you start rating sax solos?
I actually did list my favorite sax solos somewhere. Guess it wasn't here? "On The Dark Side" is a great one. So is "Bad To The Bone".

This sax solo, whether it's vamping or not, is great IMO. I love it.

I was going to say that at least we all agree Emotional Rescue is shite, but then IRBS has it on his list. Good thing we're not planning any road trips together.

The Worst, with Keith Richards singing lead, is one of the worst – no pun intended – Rolling Stones songs. It's from their 1994 Voodoo Lounge album.

In a 2024 Reddit poll, Back To Zero from the 1986 Dirty Work album was voted as the worst Rolling Stones song. The music isn't bad – but the lyrics are bad: "It′s a monkey living on my back. I can feel my spine begin to crack. I think I′ll head back to the jungle, all right. Don′t want to see no big bad rumble, too fright. I prefer to rot. I don't want to pop." Oy vey!
