The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour aired on CBS from 1967 to 1969. Mason Williams was one of the writers. On February 3, 1988, a 20th-anniversary reunion special led to a 16-episode revival of the series. Mason Williams was one of the writers. Here is Mason playing Classical Gas on that special:

 
We played an arrangement of that for concert band, in a previous band I was in. It's a difficult piece, because of the time signature changes, where a beat or half-beat drops out here and there. Also, there are several breaks where the guitar plays free-form, but then the whole band has to come in at the right time.

Cool, yeah I didn't remember it. But the more I hear something, the more likely it will stick. A few more listens and I'll remember that I actually have heard it before!

Gary Paxton, who was half of the duo Skip & Flip (It Was I, Fancy Nancy, Cherry Pie), led the Hollywood Argyles. They took their name from the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue, site of the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Their version of Alley Oop, written by Dallas Frazier, reached number one on the July 11 1960 Billboard Hot 100. A version by Danté & The Evergreens, led by Donald "Danté" Drowty, got to #15 and a version by the Dyna-Sores, which included R&B singers H.B. Barnum and Jimmy Norman, got to #59.

In 1960, there were also versions of Alley Oop by the Wildcats, the Pre-Historics, Dick Kerr & The Sing-Along Teen-Agers and someone calling himslf The Purple Critter. Among the many artists who recorded later versions are Ray Stevens, Sha Na Na, the Tremeloes, the Beach Boys and the Royal Guardsmen.

I am familiar with the Commander Cody version of this song from 1971.

I recognize several of these artists (most are because my parents listened to them or listen to them now) but am not familiar with these particular songs. I only recognize a couple of songs.
 
Hot Rod Lincoln was written by Charlie Ryan, who first recorded the song with the Livingston Brothers in 1955. He recorded a new version with the Timberline Riders in 1959. The label originally credited Charlie Ryan and W.S. Stevenson as writers – but Stevenson had nothing to do with the song. His real name was William Aubrey McCall Jr. and he was a co-founder of the 4 Star record label. Many of 4 Star's releases gave undeserved writing credit to him. Johnny Bond also had a hit with Hot Rod Lincoln in 1960.

Newer pressings of Hot Rod Lincoln also give writing credit to Jessie Lee "Arkie" Shibley, who wrote and recorded Hot Rod Race with the Mountain Dew Boys in June 1950. Hot Rod Lincoln was a plagiarism of Hot Rod Race. There were also versions of Hot Rod Race by Tiny Hill, Bob Williams, Jimmie Dolan, Red Foley, Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith, Rex Turner & The Westerners and Bob Sandy & The International Cowboys.
