Since it was so nice today, I skipped going to a Tuesday special movie and went out to Gov Nelson State Park. Since my goal last year was to visit every month, this year I will include taking a picture of the lake with the view of the state capital 7 miles away. It will be interesting to see the changes from month to month. Today, the lake was frozen with the sunlight reflecting on the ice. When I got home, I was able to take out the E-bike so my other goal will be to E-bike at least once every month this year. February and December will be the iffy ones. The paths need to be clean or I won't go.

Last year around this time (over the weekend), I went to the model train show at the city library. The first library event I ever attended. I enjoyed it a bunch so I'm going this weekend to see the exhibit once again. If it is the same as last year though, I won't make plans to go in 2027. Just read.

I also took down my holiday decorations (both inside and outside) today. Since I didn't get to be home during the week of Christmas Eve and Christmas, we kept the lights on until this morning for extended holiday light time. Quite a few neighbors still have lights up anyway

We are dealing with a water systems company, for something somewhat related. Our well water is clean, and the pressure is good, but it has a rotten egg smell, caused by hydrogen sulfide gas in the water. That comes from decomposing natural matter (leaves, seaweed, etc.) getting into the ground water. It's why the local rivers smell bad at low tide.

The water that comes into our house goes through a "whole house" filter, after the holding tank, but before the water heater and hot/cold split. They don't make filters for odor, but the charcoal-embedded sediment filters remove the odor for a few weeks at a time (two weeks to a month). The most noticeable indicator that the filter needs to be changed is when you are first running the hot water. Heating the water strongly magnifies the smell.

People with conventional hot water heater tanks can replace the anode rod, which is there to prevent the tank from rusting. But we have a tankless heater. And also, the water company filled a bucket of our water right from the holding tank, which is straight from the well. And it has the smell. So fixing the hot water won't help with the cold water.

So it looks like we're having this aeration tank installed, which causes the gas to solidify and then be filtered out. And then the solids get backwashed out every 3 days. Not an inexpensive solution, but an effective and permanent one.

BTW, we had our water retested (first time since we moved in). Our water is remarkably low in radon, arsenic, nitrate, chloride, iron, and manganese; and has no bacteria present. I just wish there was an easier solution for the odor.

Over here right after New Year’s Day, we leave the green lights up, take down the red lights and replace them with purple, and voila… Mardi Gras!

For water pH we used to have a soda ash solution feeder. Every 8-9 months we had to dump the remaining 5 gallons of the 40 gallon tank outdoors, bring it back in, fill it with water, the slowly add soda ash into it as I stirred it. Took a good 20 minutes. The neutralizer is a call to them every couple years and they take care of it. Now that I'm getting older, and still have the tennis elbow, I'm glad to be done with that solution feeder!!

I don't remember this. Your normal music is not my style at all and listening to it with an obviously biased ear since I knew it was coming from you, I honestly liked it. It was shit I'd add to my Spotify liked songs list.

That said, have you posted this new stuff? And if you have please do it again. I'm guessing I'll dig it even more!!!!!!!!!

So at this time last year, my wife's friend invited us to AHL Milwaukee Admirals hockey game with the UW Hockey band as guest. We were suppose to get a ride from her friend at the Franklin hotel to Milwaukee but my wife was running late so she had to drive into the Milwaukee arena ourselves. I was driving my wife nuts telling her Jackie Deshannon and the Beatles played one night at this arena in 1965. The game was nice. The Badger band played a great version of "Valerie" and we both caught t-shirts. Except mine hit my chest and fell to the ground and another guy picked it up but was nice enough to give it back to me. Plus I had a nice pizza slice. We were lucky with the traveling weather. This year the game is supposed to be in early March which sounds more favorable for traveling.
Last night would have been fine but we had more fun at the Lions Club spaghetti dinner then came home and watched some "Netflix Love". I was watching a few of my favorite scenes the other day and my wife came in and liked it so now she wants to watch it with me.

I am also looking forward to the opening of my favorite Farmer's Market bakers opening up their own bakery this Spring. Last year I always had to wait at least 45 minutes in line. One time, I had to stand in line between two babies and the one behind me kept poking me in the back. People would purchase boxes of pastries and all I wanted was one little chocolate croissant. But it was worth it. That gal can really bake. With the bakery opening I hope to have a decent chance of getting my croissant before everything is sold out.

We met with the city last Thursday for the re construction of the neighborhood park flower bed we sponsor. I put in a ticket because some stones got loose.
They said it was going to get worse, so they are going to tear the whole thing apart and rebuild it. We agreed to change the direction of the bed. It is circular. It will go this way instead of that way: east to west instead north to south. They say they can have it done by Mid-May just in time to start flower planting. I'm looking forward.

Then on Saturday, we met a goal of playing all the table games at the Y. First we played air hockey, my wife won 13-2. Then we played foosball, I won 4-1.
Then we played our usual ping-pong. We just volley all the time. But I also haven't exercised there going on 3 days. That's the first time I've let that happened this year.

The Baker that makes the great Chocolate Croissants at our city farmers market is having the grand opening of her new bakery on Saturday.
And even if all the treats are sold out, we want to see the bakery. The baker is a really nice young gal. She is very ambitious opening up her own bakery
