And around 1,500 of those MLB players appeared in only one game. I'd love to know how many failed to get a hit and ended their major-league career with a batting average of .000.
The Dodgers are headed to the World Series after sweeping the Brewers in the National League championship series. Tonight they beat the Brewers 5-1. Shohei Ohtani pitched the first six innings and got the win. He gave up no runs and struck out 10. He also hit three home runs – three! – including a leadoff home run. He is the only pitcher in MLB history to hit a leadoff home run in a game.
Well, the hot dogs are better at Dodger's stadium than they are in Milwaukee, so I don't mind that they are advancing....Fuck the Dodgers. Anybody but them.
Eugenio Suárez hit a grand slam in the 8th inning of ALCS game 4 tonight to break a 2-2 tie. The Mariners beat the Blue Jays 6-2. And here is some amazing (and pretty much useless) trivia: Suárez is the 7th MLB player to hit a go-ahead grand slam in the 8th inning (or later) of a playoff game.
Game 6 is October 19 in Toronto. When a playoff series is tied 2-2, 69% of the series are won by the game 5 winner.
Other useless stats: the game 3 winner (regardless of other games) wins the best of 7 series 73% of the time.
I feel bad for Seattle. They were/are a damn good team. They would have had their hands full against the Dodgers mainly because they would not have had home field. They Jays will have their hands full too but I think the Jays can win.Happy for the Blue Jays.
Mariners never made it before so that would have been cool to see also, but it’s been since the 1990s for Toronto, so they’re due. Please beat the Dodgers.
I think his first year as a player or a coach. When he was a Yankee the Yankees never were much.I’m also happy for Don Mattingly! All those years in baseball and this will be his first World Series (as a coach on Blue Jays staff)
