To be honest, my daughter spends about that much just in rent and utilities each month. So it's just a cost of living thing.

Seeing how I share a condo, my rent is cheap af. And I don't think I mentioned this yet but I seem to be on track to have significantly cheaper rent w/o a roommate. Public Storage has condos on a bunch of their properties. I didn't know that was a thing, then thought they must just be like storage containers transformed into condos but they're not. It's pretty much the exact same thing I'm living in now (a 2/2) but for less than I pay now and the only utility not included is internet. And there are no added requirements to the job...like having to do stuff after hours or whatever. You just have to be working for them, that's it. I got to tour one a couple times now and I'm all about it. Plus I can have Athena there. All I need to do is get some certificate saying she's a support animal. While I really hate that concept in general, I'll do it for cheap rent and I'm certainly not getting rid of Athena unless she dies. Turns out you can get those docs the same way you can become a reverend to marry your friends. It's just like $50 on some website.

Mrs. Scotch and I each received a check for $285 from the State of Maine covid relief fund. It goes to people who live and work in Maine, who worked through the pandemic. Basically, it's from federal funds, and it's a gift for not filing for unemployment.

I did it for the first time (at least the first time I can remember) like a week ago. I filled out an application for Shipt a couple months ago. They sent me the t shirt and card used to buy the groceries. But that's as far as it went. I never once made a shipt delivery.
Anyway a week ago they charged me $99 for "yearly fees". So I called Wells Fargo and bitched abt it. The guy I talked to was great then this morning I had $99 extra in my checking.
Usually wells fargo sucks but in this case they did me right.

Mrs. Scotch has probably done it a few times. But for me, there was one notable situation, where we got a dishonest caterer for our daughter's wedding. That was a disaster. The guy triple-charged our deposit, claiming a bad cell connection was to blame. But when we simply asked for it to be credited back, that's when the problems started. And it dragged on, so by the time we got to dealing with the CC company, it was past the standard window of time. We had to show all sorts of paperwork. And in the end, we ended up cancelling the entire catering contract with this guy, which required that the venue got involved. Within a year, the guy was in jail.
I had a charge for something like $7.14 cents on a card once that I never made.
I called the CC company and told them about it, so they removed the charge.
I asked if they were going to send me a new card since someone accessed it without my permission, and they said no. It would be fine.
2 or 3 months later, there was a charge for something like $600 for protein supplements shipped out of Georgia and sent to Florida or something. I called back to complain, and they were a pain in the ass about it. They said the called the company which said the charge was legit, so they weren't taking it off.
I had to do my own internet detective work to document the bogus seller and provide the info to my CC co.. I had to document that I was at home at the time and not in Florida. I almost sent them a picture of me with my shirt off, so they had proof that I've never taken protein supplements. (That would have been classic.) Eventually they removed the charge and gave me a new #.
Check your statements people, and don't use auto-pay.

I pay each charge as I get them. When I get my statement I balance the charges against the payments. I am usually left with about 10 mismatches. 8 are stuff that is a charge on this or last month and payment on this or next month. And there are usually 2 charges I just spaced and didn't pay. But any bogus charge would show up.
So the moral of that story is ya gotta bulk up hectic.

My no spending came to an end last night but for good reason. I spent $50 on this awesome toy for one of the gf's kids for Christmas.
When u press the tail its mouth opens and it roars! When u pull the plastic tab out it also roars when the button is hit. I pulled the tab on one in the store but then went back and got another with the tab still in cause I'd totally kill the battery making this thing roar before the little girl even got to play with it.
Also I gotta get these kids into batman solely for selfish reasons. I want to play with batman toys! Jurassic Park is pretty cool though.
