‘Idol’ didn’t make an offer to Stern, source says

Howard never said they made an offer. Howard mentioned the idea and it's pretty likely someone wrote about it as a possiblity and the lazy ass and dumb as hell media picked up on it as if it was real. And after seeing the mostly negative reaction to Howard, of course they had to make that statement. "American Idol" is not going to take any risks. They are going to play it super safe!

I don't think anybody said that Stern claimed to get an offer. The OP didn't say that and the article didn't either.
The article actually says, "Howard Stern recently confirmed he was in talks to join “American Idol,†but sources close to the show say an offer was never made."
The article is full of shit. Howard never confirmed anything on his show.

when howard said a week or two ago that a big show made him an offer i totally assumed it was idol. since then he went on last week to say both that he would not confirm that idol offered or didnt. when he said that i still thought they did. but then on tues show he said, during all the idol talk, that a big network made him an offer to do an idol type show. so at that point i thought it was clear that idol had not come to him yet.

Howie mentioned in December that he was in talks with a production team, actually he said there were two camps involved, both camps were trying to gauge his interest in doing a game show. I believe he talked about this on the December 3rd show.

huh, i forgot about that. to use a howard term: fact of the matter is, stern will be back on sirius in a year. all this talk is fun for now, bashing ellen and that bitch from the view is good fun, but its not gonna happen.
