IDK much non hippie 60's music but this one stuck out like a sore thumb. Have you really never heard this one?

I have heard the Donny Osmond version. Didn't realize til right now that it was the same song. Thought it was another case of "Stairway to Heaven". In any case my count remains at 0.

Ah ok I have heard it. I just didn't recognize it by artist/title.

I do know this by standup James P Connelly though:

"My mother called it puppy love. My doctor called it an unhealthy attachment to a pet."

On April 10, 2026, Paul Anka performed at Casino Rama in Orilla, Ontario. Among the 24 songs he sang were his hits Puppy Love, Diana, Put Your Head On My Shoulder, My Heart Sings, Eso Beso, Lonely Boy and You Are My Destiny – and Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Anka is 84 – and amazing!

Not a very good countdown anyway. Surprising the charts survived this period of hit music.
Best song was "The Theme From A Summer Place" Cousin Brucie use to use for his SXM Love Hour Half Hour Hour on Saturday night.
I did like Dave Hoeffel reference to the WLS Boogie Check. Though a little too early in time for that segment.

Mountain Of Love, written and recorded by Harold Dorman, reached #21 on the Hot 100 in May 1960. It was his first and only hit. He released six more singles, 1960-63, but none ever charted. A remake of Mountain Of Love by Johnny Rivers got to #9 in December 1964, a version by Ronnie Dove got to #67 in July 1968 and a version by Charley Pride, backed by the Nashville Edition, went to number one on the country chart in March 1982.

This is why everyone went nuts for the Beatles. All they knew was this stuff.
