Sears Canada having earlier filed for bankruptcy has asked the court to liquidate its assets as it could not find a buyer.

I saw a similar article over the weekend in one of my social media news feed. But I couldn't find it.

I can totally go along with Sears and Kmart, since there only one Kmart left in the Phoenix area. That building looks like needs to close down.

I don't know how J.C. Penny's is on the list, the couple by me is always busy.

Somebody will buy out Mattel and save them, like whoever owns Hostess.

I hadn't heard about Mattel before.

I'm wondering what happens when all the department stores - that anchor malls - go under. What will that do to the already beleaguered mall?

I read that my Sears, that I'm always rambling about, recently sold their store real estate and now rents it back from some company. Apparently the mall management group is trying to kick Sears out and replace it with restaurants.

My mall is going through a bit of an upgrade but to me it seems kinda worthless. They installed this fancy LCD awning type deal in front of one of the main entrances that can change colors and patterns. It must have cost a ton cause it huge, like 3 or 4 of Semi's trucks could fit underneath it. It's nice but totally unnecessary.

There are two propose malls supposedly going to be built outside the Phoenix area. One was going to happen, but the bad economy stops it. Now they want to break ground again and the anchor's stores that are supposed to move in area Dillard's and Macy's. But Macy's is having issues, who knows Nordstrom could take it place, but they are a very expensive store.

In the past few years, at least 2 malls went under. One supposes to be torn down, to make room for business centers, hospital, hotels, apartments, etc. on the property. They already built a Wal-Mart where an anchor store was. The other mall is supposed to turn into some education college for medical and technology.

That's probably Eddie Lambert's Sears Holdings. Hedge fund dude bought Sears, then gutted its most valuable asset (the real estate) and forced Sears to rent from his new holding company. He's burning Sears down to the ground.
