My younger brother loves this channel, btw.

Those darn kids...:twitch:

I gave this channel the once over a few times...:)

The concerts were great. This is the only group I know that can take a 5 minute song and turn it into a 45min jam session...:right:

After the concerts were over, the songs were great. Only once have I listened to this channel and it was when we did WTD on SBS. It's a good channel, but I'm not going to make it a preset.

As far as it being a single artist channel, it doesn't bother me, yet. I do think it's about time SiriusXM lets people know when this channel will end and what new channel we can expect...:)

3 out of 5 Stars.

Sounds: All Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia solo, and Grateful Dead member collaborations and live performances

Positives: Essential if you're a Dead fan. They have a very large catalogue and uniquely different songs so repetition is low. Full live concerts are long and perfectly preserved...almost a time capsule

Negatives: Presentation of the channel may be a little too low key for its own good. There appeared to be no station IDs (unless the large amount of long songs prevented me from ever hearing them because I'm not in the car that long) and the DJ that came on to introduce the live concerts made me want to take a nap while driving

Blastability: Medium to high depending on how under the influence I am :p

Overall: I agree with a lot of people though that this channel should be taking over the spot of JAM_ON or not in existence because Grateful Dead should already be well presented on that channel

Sorry, but this one of those single artist channels and I am voting it terrible because it should have been gone a long time ago.

The GD has some good music, but enough already!

DITTO BIG TIME!! There is so much GD on 17 Jam On already, this channel has long since worn it's welcome:bigahh: out!!

I think this channel is well worth having permanently, for marketing purposes at the very least. Fans of this band are possibly the most devoted out there, and would be willing to shell out 13 bucks a month just for the opportunity to have this available. And since there is so much material out there, there aren't too many people who have enough in their own collection to duplicate what the channel plays.

So this and the Elvis channel would be the two single-artist channels worth keeping full time.

Having said that, I'm not that much of a fan to tune in much, if at all. I actually saw them in concert four times back in the day, but for me being there in person - and being among the crowd - was what it was about. It loses something on the radio, in my opinion.

They should keep this one and get rid of Jam On.
