Created by “Little Steven†Van Zandt, Outlaw Country is a sanctuary for the freaks, misfits, outcasts, rebels, and renegades of country music, along with brash and outspoken on-air personalities.

What we play: Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Emmylou Harris, Dale Watson, Merle Haggard, Bob Dylan, Dwight Yoakam, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Steve Earle, and all three generations of Hank Williams!

Lots of cool programming... Sirius 63, XM 12

This could be a decent channel if it played music associating with its name. The channel is poorly programmed. It does seem to play more OUTLAW type music later at night/early morning.

2 of 5 stars. :zz:

Saturday night has great programming beginning with Shooter Jennings. That is the only time I ususally listen. I agree what is consider "outlaw" is not played as much as what the name of the channel would indicate. I would give it 5 stars based on Saturday nights line up.

This used to be a preset, and I would try and record Knoxville's program, but neither are the case anymore, I replaced it with Willie's Place, which seemed to be more "Tonk". For WTD, I have been listening this morning for about 2.5 hours. I've heard some okay songs, some really horrible remakes (Lucinda Williams rendition of "It's a Long Way to The Top" made my ears want to bleed), and maybe one or two good songs. I think the problem is they boast they have the stars, but they stick them on the weekends. I would tune into Marty Stuart's, Shooter's. or Knoxville's show, but I am never listening to satrad on Saturday and Sunday nights. I'm giving it 3 stars, just because the good shows that they never play balance out the bad music they do play.

Agreed. I rarely listen to country music, but will "tolerate" during trips to Michigan's UP with buddies that are country music fans. When Outlaw Country is played, I have been questioned by my non-Sat buddies why they call the station Outlaw Country. Sounds too much like the local UP country stations, minus the commercials. I would expect something a bit more "redneck" (not in a derogatory way) or leaning towards country rock.

I kinda like this channel. The music is new and refreshing to me. I also think that Willie's Place is better, but this channel ain't half bad...

I listened a few hours today, and about an hour yesterday. I will listen more this weekend, but that might change since it doesn't look like there will be a NASCAR Truck race tonight, so they'll run it tomorrow...:worried:

I give it 4 out of 5 Stars...

I normally despise Country Music, but I've found Outlaw Country to be okay. I guess it's cool how they mix the country with some ZZ Top, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, etc.

I won't make this one a permanent preset, but I'll try to visit sometimes.

On the Sirius side I would like to see Outlaw Country or Willie's Place sacrificed for The Village. There presently is no home for vintage folk on the Sirius side but, plenty of classic country with the Roadhouse, Willie's Place, and Outlaw Country. After listening to The Village online, I would really like to see some space for this channel on the Sirius Sats.
