Wolfie At The Old Folks Home

I normally object to Wolfie interviews of drunken white guys at various events because he is trying to prompt the worst in them. Not funny to me (except for the Wing Bowl [was that Richard?] where the participants tried to outdo one another in sexism, racism and gross-outs). I also object to the so-called Sal goes up to Harlem bits because his questions are designed to make the black street guys up there look as stupid and ignorant as possible. Easy pickings. Not funny. But these recent Wolfie interviews in his grandmother's nursing home have really thrown me for a loop. They are so depressing. One old woman (Wolfie's grandmother?) calls Obama a monkey. This place is not in the Deep South. It is in Pennsylvania. Is this a bad bit because it is not funny or a good bit because it shows that racism is still alive and well in the Deep North?
 
i havent heard it yet so i may be wrong on details but the whole point of those bits is just to find people saying outrageous shit. no matter where you go, or what type of people you interview if you find a big enough group you will find people who are dumb or racist or sexist or whatever. my dad lives in one of those communities. there are a total of about 200 condos in his complex and everyone ive met has been very nice and normal but i bet i could find some crazies if i went and talked to 50 or 60 of them. its the same argument i was making when he went to the phish shows and i said that besides being high most of the normal people at those shows are not like what was played on the show.

on another point...you say you dont normally like the harlem or event bits. not sure why but i also do not like the harlem bits. for me they just are not that funny. but i do like wolfie going to events. i normally get a kick out of every one. they are kinda the same thing so its odd i dont like them both.
 
Western Pennsylvania is super conservative. It's where they got offended when Obama said they cling to their guns and religion. Aside from that, old people in nursing homes are generally not very keen on progressive, contemporary things, like minorities, liberals, or minority liberal presidents. Not sure why you'd be surprised by that. What IS surprising is that these old folks account for much of the "47%" that Romney claimed was in the tank for Obama.
 
Living in Western Pennsylvania my whole life, I know first-hand that outside of the City of Pittsburgh itself... this side of the state is conservative. Guns and Bibles aren't just a ritual outside of the major city here.... its a way of life.

Allegheny County (where Pittsburgh is located), in fact, has the 2nd highest number of senior citizens in the country. I think Dade County, Florida is #1.

Alot of the older conservative folks here are racist.... even if they won't admit it to you. Most have unfavorable views of Obama and can't wait until the day he is out of office permanently.
 
so the OP is seriously saying he didn't enjoy wolfie's adventures at brony-con???? that was HILARIOUS!

BTW, I'm not caught up on the show, so I haven't heard this yet.
 
I have kids. I see "My Little Pony" commercials often. Secretly, I am severely disturbed when those commercials come on the air, thinking of the Bronies and their conventions. I cannot let-on though. I don't need to spread the virus that is knowing the Bronies exist.

in my book thats one of the more normal ones. MUCH better that than a brony or one of those adult babies he has interviewed.
 
I don't recall ever hearing women at the freaky conventions. (They have more sense. Us guys can be creepy at times.) I think you'll be okay.
 
I finally heard this over the weekend while driving. I'm sorry, but I just love the wolfie segments. I'm usually disappointed when howard ends these segments abruptly.
