I have been looking almost every week to buy one of these.

I played with one over the summer. I played the bowling game. I was absolutely amazed.

I am ready to get one. I just want to hear other's opinions and what other stuff I'd need to buy.

Wow, I'm coming to your place. :)

I have yet to see one in a store yet. I thought I did once, but it wasn't one.

If I buy one online, it has to be a bundle with a bunch a crap that I don't think I need.

I had to get a second Wii. I could never get on the first one. Some people are selfish.

I've been to your place. Talk about a multi tasking household. I think your daughter played like 5 video/computer games in an hour period meanwhile chatting with friends. You aren't any different LOL.

To answer the original question, no I don't have a Wii, just an Xbox 360 I lent to Jamie for months ;)

I have a Wii. That's what she said...or he I guess. Anyways, I find myself playing my 360 more but it's still a pretty good system. However, the most fun I've had with it is with Wii Sports and Wii sports comes with the system so that says something about the games. Although Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, and Mario Kart are good.

I started her out right. I got addicted to NES with the original Zelda game and would let her sit next to me on the floor in diapers. I would let her "play" with the second controller that was not hooked up. We bonded and she is still my best friend.

I own a Wii, and am a huge Nintendo fanboy.

I play the wii a lot, but mostly I've been just playing downloaded VC or wiiware titles. Tetris Party, Bomberman Blast, World of Goo, AND, we can't forget the incredibly hard megaman 9 All amazing games to download for the wii. I also have a hack installed to let play homebrew apps, so I have a NES emulator installed to play some rare games I can't download on the VC service.

Other then those games, I play Mario Kart wii, and Smash Brothers Brawl a lot. Wii Sports was a huge hit the first year we had it in the apartment, and is still a fun drinking partying game to go back to on occasion. I suggest you get it if you have friends you like ti play with, and enjoy older nintendo games, since they offer so many great games available for download via their shop channel.

"Santa" is bringing one for x-mas this year. Kids aged 9 & 7 both have it on their wishlist. Which games should I get?

Last week I saw stacks of Wiis at Fry's, so I think the drought may be fading. Don't pay extra for a bundle; check online to see when big box stores will get shipments. You can generally show up early on a weekend morning when the shipment comes in and pick one up. That's how I got mine.

Wii Sports is a blast, but Mario Kart is the best console game I've ever played. Any time, day or night, I can beat the snot out of people from different lands. There is nothing more satisfying than pwning some brat with an offensive, racist Mii.

I bought the Wii when it first came out so I can sell it. But than than I found out too many people were selling it so I couldn't sell it at the price I want it for.

So I sold it to my brother since he had kids. I wish I had waited a bit longer to sell it because it is in big demend for it now.

I than got lucky and got another one at retail price because sommeone was selling theirs and did not want to sell it on Ebay. So it is now sitting in the house hooked up to the tv. I haven't used it much but it is still a fun system to use.

If you find one, grab it! You won't be disappointed. I'd recommend Mario Kart as the most addictive game. And if you see a dude named Howard with a Mii that looks like Howard Stern racing online, it could be me :).

The wii sports DVD that comes with the console is VERY cool. lots of basic games that you can play for hours. If you get a bunch of people together there is a carnival games DVD that is also very fun, but don't try to play it solo or you'll get bored. Same goes for Raymonds Raving Rabbids (I and II). Awesome to play when you have some friends over, but boring as hell if you are alone.

For serious gaming I use my PC, but the wii is awesome for casual gaming with the wife of when friends come over. fun stuff!

Im looking to get one too this year. Im having trouble finding one though. Ive been told that my local Toys R Us has them in stock. I have to get over there and look soon or I wont get one anyway. Sounds like I need to get Mario Kart for it though.

Whats the difference between the controllers and the nunchuck controller? I havent been able to figure that out yet.

I got one last Christmas for the boy. It has been a great investment, its really a great system IMO. Of course, you dont have the eye popping graphics, but a lot of the games are just FUN. Get the WiiPlay cause it comes with a second controller. My Boy downloads classic NES games all the time with his Wii Points. The Cool thing too is it plays Gamecube games as well.

As far as the coolest games, I concur with everyone on MarioKart, it is amazing, and once you hook up the wifi, you can play online against anyone. The gameplay and connection speed, etc, are amazing. I havent had it "lag" once on me while im playing people from all over the U.S.

The boy also has SuperPaperMario which he likes a lot, i got the WiiZapper which comes bundled with a cool little target shooting Zelda game. I also got "Medal Of Honor 2" which, i feel is done pretty well to be a Wii Game.

The online stuff is neat too, you can participate in the online polls (something my kids are fascinated with), check the weather, read the news (its pretty cool, you can check out the news from anywhere, like Alaska, Japan, etc.) And of course, you can download games to the virtual console and play all of the old school games too. Plus, you can check out the "Nintendo" channel, and watch video previews of new releases.

I love the system and probably play it just as much as my boys (11 & 9).

Must haves include a second remote and nunchuck (and in my home a third of each). The rechargeable batteries and station are nice.

Must have games? Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best (most fun) games I have ever played. Mario Kart is good (I liked the gamecube version better). I have to say that the Lego games are an absolute blast.

None of these games are for hardcore 'gamers', but I find them to be a whole lot of fun. As others have said, Wii Play and Wii Sports are a lot of fun and Wii Play comes with a free remote, so you might add that to 'Must Haves'.

The Wii itself has a few nice features. You can download a Photos channel and your TV becomes a neat slide-show viewer for photos on an SD memory card. There are also contests to create and judge Mii's (the kids like this more than me) and there is an Everybody Votes channel where you can answer silly polls and then see if you voted with the crowd.

Really a ton of fun.

I can get them on a ragular basis over here but they do go fast. Now there are so many good games that are real cheap that for $500 you can be set up for life. The Vitual Console is addicting. Get River City Ransom as it's the best $5 on there. Super Contra for SNES is one of the best too.

You can get a NURF Sports pack. Makes the sports games work a little better especially the golf.

also fill a SD card with heavy metal and when you play EXCITE TRUCK it'll play your playlist. Has to be metal though. The more 80s the better.

Bought one for our son who turned 5 about a month ago and we've been enjoying it. I've always enjoyed video games but when we had kids, I sold the Xbox and the PS2 because I really never had time to play them. But with the Wii, I was excited to get back into the world of the occasional gamer.

I like playing the WII SPORTS and there are some other good games out there---MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE is one of the most fun games I've ever played---but I get the feeling that I would really enjoy playing most games more on other consoles like a Xbox 360 or the PS3 because the nunchuck-remote combo can get annoying.

Also, we bought an off brand NUNCHUCK for the WII and I will be taking it back today. It just stops working rendering your controller useless. We are constantly unplugging it and plugging it back in. So, if you are going to be buying the accessories, I woudl stick with the Nintendo branded accessories rather than the generic look-a-likes.

I can't wait to get Mario Kart. That game was so much fun on the Gamecube and the WII version looks even better.

The Wii, while fun, really just makes me want to buy a PS3.

Whats the difference between the controllers and the nunchuck controller? I havent been able to figure that out yet.

the nunchuck plugs into the main controller for certain games. Like boxing for example, you have one controller in each hand so you can mimmick the action of boxing. Most games don't require a nunchuck, and those that do generally have an alternate controller config that lets you just use the main controller.
