I just want to see what other people think will happen if they go out of business.

I think most likely, they will end up going out of business.

I feel another company may come in to buy them out considering how valuable their satellites are. It probably go back in business as a satellite radio business but it will not have as many channels as before because they probably end up using the bandwidth for other purpose.

Some other entity will buy the birds and the other technology required to provide another SDARS service. Probably advertisement supported w/ premium content, like we have with TV now.

It would be replaced within six months to a year by a commercial-supported service....

...probably owned by Clear Channel.

I could see some of the big players currently involved, to pick up the pieces, at a fraction of the cost. They could launch under a new name. Probably support only one set of harware, keeping the bandwidth together like it was supposed to be from the beginning. I think most of their problems are short term. Seems like they could survive if they could get some financing for the short term debt they have. The government is in the mood to give away money lately. Maybe they could get a loan from them.

Well, my eight hour rides, four nights a week, will become extremely boring!!

When I first started driving a truck, I brought along cassettes. Then a portable CD player...:)

After a while, I got bored of the music I brought, so I'd listen to the radio, that is until I'd have to change the channel. Night times weren't so bad, but day time was.

Then I went through a time when I didn't listen to anything. Nothing at all. Hours of silents. Man was that dull...:(

Then I got XM. My life has never been the same...:)

I hope they do not go under , but if they did I think the NAB will offer a spot at the Table to Mel , and for me personally I will go to the internet for radio exclusively.

Thanks for the link rubin! I hadn't come across that site before..

I don't know that i'm quite ready to cancel on Dec 17th, like the site admin is calling for, but he does make some very solid points. i truly hope sirius takes notice on how they have alienated their customers. scott greenstein should be fired IMMEDIATELY!!!!

at the very least, i think this will get me to write some nasty letters to the SiriusXM corporate office!!!

... and there is the problem and why this campaign will surely fail. Most aren't going to call and cancel and if they don't there goes any real power that the site thinks they have over Sirius. The fact is Sirius is going to do what they are going to do.

You'll get a much better reception by handling this in a manner in which Orbitcast and SiriusBuzz can do it. They have a relationship built with the company. A fly by night we site that suddenly pops up and is totally negative, just won't get far. Any changes that we get will be because of blogs like Orbitcast and SiriusBuzz and just individuals calling in with honest feedback, not threats of canceling.

December 17 there will be a few cancellations, but not enough that Sirius will see it as anything more than normal churn.

I agree , because most subscribers do not read Orbitcast Sirius Buzz or on here. The ones who will cancel are die hard junkies who got robbed from the merger.
