The thread title reminded me of my status exactly one year ago today. I welcome all new listeners to satellite heaven. FTR, it's Sirius everything on my S10 and six month old Altec Lansing phones.

I got my dad Sirius 2 years ago today , and he enjoys it . BTW A channel I would recommend to new subscribers is Hardcore Sports Radio . The channel is the way sports talk should be uncensored , and telling it like it is.

I think my parents will finally be getting satellite radio today. I've only been telling them about it for four years now!

On my advice, I think they will be going with XM... not sure what radio they got yet, I will let you know in a little while.

EDIT: My parents got the XpressR.

New Subcribers make me happy. They help the company but most important they show us how cool the service really is. We are all so used to the amazing content and service. Having Satellite Radio and giving it up is more jarring than watching HD TV and going back to fuzzy local channels. It's the best ;)

There's also Ferrall. His voice can be a bit of a turnoff, but give it time.

What formats do they like to listen to music wise.
My parents like a wide variety of music. I figure they'll love all the decade channels, the classic rock channels, esp. The Bridge, and Sirius XM Love. Mom will love the Broadway channel as well!

Thats good , my dad listens to mostly the classic rock channels especially HN and soon to be the Bone Yard. I am somewhat the opposite of him becuase i listen to 90's on 9 80's on 8 and others. I do however listen to the classic rock channels.

Let's hope they get a nose full of rants at the "buzz" and migrate here where folks tend to be civil.

It occurs to me that most newbies would not immediatly become aware of these forums. It took me 9 months from my XM purchase to find XMFAN. I found SBS from there. It never occured to me that there would be people discussing satrad on the internet. I found XMFAN as a result of a google search for something.

But for those that do stumble into here ... welcome.

That is a good point. I googled SATELLITE RADIO QUESTIONS and none of the main satellite forums showed up on the first page.
