You must excuse Ohio State for not playing a high school team their first game.Uhhmmmm Florida.....:p A lot of teams won't play Navy or Airforce their first game. Like I said in another thread Now we know why.
Some of you act like it was App State. I hate to break it to you Navy is pretty good.

I'm with you on that pic. I hope they play better than last year. If they do happen to win people will just make excuses why they won. No win situation again. They better play all out and not care what anyone else thinks. Thats my 2 cents.

Navy went to a bowl game last year and is a decent team. But a number 6 team at home should have at least beat them convincingly, if not overwhelmingly. Seeing the Buckeyes play last weekend would not have given me a lot of confidence going into this Saturday. Just my 2 cents.

Speaking of high school teams, Texas Tech played one to open their season (North Dakota). I was watching ESPN with a buddy of mine on Sunday, and the little ticker at the bottom of the screen said TX Tech 38 ND 13. My friend's reaction was like, wow, you guys beat Notre Dame that badly? You should be pretty good this season!

I didn't correct him, haha.

I didn't think they deserved to be #6 to start the season. Look how many people they lost. Your right they should have won more convincinly. Thats what we all thought in the 4th quarter. They were going in for another touchdown to ice it and then...... All hell broke loose. I was sitting there stuned. It is what it is, but let me see more elite teams play Navy or Airforce. They just won't do it.

No excuse from me if they lose. :peace:

I wouldn't have a problem with OSU beating USC. I like the Trojans, but they're not my favorite time. They are the best hope for the PAC10 to win a National Championship. Just like year after year, OSU is the BIGTEN's best hope for winning a National Championship.

It would be nice if other teams in both conferences could step up and displace either team and WIN and championship, but I don't think that's going to be the case with the Floridas, Texas', Oklahomas in the world :worried:

Who is your favorite team, semi? I've never figured that out...is it Kansas?

Add on the fact that USC has a true freshman QB, and it's amazing that USC is a 7-point favorite right now (and it'll probably go up a little more before Saturday). That's A LOT of points considering it's in C-Bus.

I agree with everything you said. I think Penn State has stepped up some. They should be good too. To be honest I'm not a confrence guy. I like Ohio State and thats about it. If the rest of the Big Ten is good thats great, but if they suck I don't care. I see to many SEC guys riding a whole confrence. They jump on the next best thing if their team goes down and they just chant SEC SEC. I say you can't have it both ways. If your team gets beat and sucks thats it. Don't be a LSU fan and then go balls out for Florida. You would never catch a true Ohio State fan rooting for Michigan.

Yes Ohio State is at home and should win. I just hope Tressel don't stick to that 2002 realizms. You know play great defense and punt away and hold on for the win. Thats stuff doesn't work anymore. He needs to go right at USC and use everything he has. I think thats the only way we can win. No mater what I'll stick with em. Go Bucks!!!

No conference sticks together like the SEC. It's true, by and large, that SEC fans will root for their fellow conference teams in big out-of-conference games, in ways that fans of other conferences do not understand. It's a common bond we share as Southerners, I guess. :)

It doesn't mean I have any less venom towards Alabama and Florida. I hate those teams. But like brothers I want to see them beat the Oklahomas of the world.

I root for conference rivals in non-conference games because let's face it, part of the BCS formula is strength of schedule. Of course I was rooting for Oklahoma State against Georgia because I'd prefer it if they had the strongest possible resume for when we play them in case we're still in the mix (which, unfortunately, we probably won't be this year).

As far as rooting for them in bowl games, I don't really care. I think judging conference strength based on W-L in bowl games is overrated anyway. The Pac-10 was 5-0 last year...were they the best?

Oh no I get it. If your team has a bad season you will root for who ever is at the top. The last few years being Florida and LSU. That way if your team looses and has a bad season you can always say SEC is on top. Thats nice, but what about YOUR team? I guess thats an easy way for SEC fans to never have to take any crap. I don't get it??? I served with a lot of Alabama and LSU fans over in Iraq and they would never ever root for their rivals no matter what. So not all SEC fans bandwagon on a confrence. That being said the SEC is still head and shoulders better than the Big Ten and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Come on guys pick a team and stick with them. :p

I honostly can't say who I'd take as my "Favorite"

That's why when we had the "Who's your favorite team" thread, I listed a lot of teams.

I grew up in SoCal, but I never paid much attention to college football until I was in the Marine Corps. That's when you meet people from all parts of the country, & they have their favorite teams.

Plus I got to go to the Holiday Bowl & watch BYU-Iowa play to a 3-3 tie :worried:

I've gone to one UCLA game & one Kansas game. I want to go watch MIZZOU-Kansas play :D

I used to hate Notre Dame, but that was more because everyone else did. My favorite QB played for ND. How can I hate ND?

I'd say UCLA is my favorite. They are the school that I can't root against no matter who they play. if USC plays UCLA, I root for the Bruins. When ND & USC play, I don't care who wins as long as its a good game :)
