Yet another league to compete with the NFL. All have failed. Sooner or later they will run out of first letters.

I give this 1 year.

If this UFL wanted to give itself a halfway chance of being successful, they'd play their season during the NFL's offseason. Starting in October, when the NFL is right in the middle of things, is pretty dumb. They should start their season RIGHT NOW.

This is a great time for something new. It's sort of a lull between the Super Bowl and March Madness. But, OTOH I think a lot of people are "footballed out" right now. It takes time to recover from all of the Super Bowl hype.

I don't think America can ever have too much football. Just look at this thread - http://www.digitalradiocentral.com/nfl/3281-now-what.html

If I were the UFL, I'd start my season 3 or 4 weeks after the Super Bowl. That way, you have some time to give yourself promotion and get the word out. And if you start it in late February/early March, you don't have to worry about playing in June and July when it gets hot (according to its website, the season will only be about 2 months long).

Either way though, it's not going to work. The NFL is king. College football is second. There's no room for any other brand of football in the United States.

UFL = UFC + a ball?

Maybe they are trying the Vince thing again (WWE + football) to do UFC + football. Choke tackles and arm bars are legal. Play is over by tapout only.

That model has been tried and has failed multiple times.

Perhaps the idea is to play on days where there is no NFL games. If they are playing on Sunday ... forget it.

Not me, I cry myself to sleep every night until football season starts again.:eek:

Their plan is to play on Thursday and Friday nights. Maybe they think that'll give them a chance.

Now that would football me out.There is already Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. I need a couple nights off to live some sort of life during football season. It needs to be during the off season. Start a month after the Super Bowl and end it in July.

Me too. :cry: At least we had the Arena League to get our football fix until training camp started...no arenaball in 2009 really sucks...

Looks like you'd get Wednesday and Friday off, unless you're watching high school games on Fridays... ;)
