So far no mention of the tapes team and the spectacular job they're not doing with Master Tape. I can't get through, nothing but a busy signal.

Sabes was even non committal about Bubba's future with Sirius. He says they already have the best talent in radio. I don't know what that even means.

I'm on hold. My suggest is to get rid of Mutt. I said that I want to talk about the Friday show.

Finally. An answer for why there hasn't been any Master Tape Theater's since June. It's because they're preparing for two weeks of programming in December.

I don't doubt that the programming will be stellar when it is finally delivered, but Tim is telling everyone six months later for the first time that they don't have the staff to deliver a new Master Tape episode for six months because of this special.

Unbelievable.

30 million a year for this show? You have got to be kidding me. Talk people being overpaid!

Tim mentioned that there won't be any NEW Master Tape eps until after the new year. So that means when the final tally is reached next year, fans of the Stern show, or rather fans of Master Tape Theater, will have missed out on listening to 90 plus hours of tape. But I'm sure that the two weeks of programming will come close to matching those wasted hours. I think they'll probably do about ten hours a day of programming for the History of Howard Stern, part two when it finally airs.

I just can't understand why they couldn't have done both. If it means getting rid of the Sir Harden Thicke bits, then so be it. Just bare boned edits of the old shows, the ones we all haven't heard since they originally aired.

Canada Eh!
they throw together the best of the week in no time. Why would it take much longer to do a MTT? I must be missing something.
I missed the show with Tim. he didn't mention anything else about Bubba?

Tim is like a politician. He gave 0 straight answers and, IMO, cleared nothing up. I lost respect for him after listening to it.

Edit, sound quality, digitize, write wrap arounds....blah, blah, blah. Tim is the master of speaking at length and saying very little to nothing. As Artie would say, middle management BS.

Well, to be fair, the old tapes are in shitty shape - they require special handling because of the (crappy) media they are recorded on (remember the ovens they required), so I'm sure that getting things digitized is a time consuming process. That being said, I would think that even one guy working on it part time could come up with at least one new one a month?? Agreed that the Sir Harden Thicke bits could certainly disappear and not be missed (at least by me).

What you're saying might be true, but the fans aren't being told this type of information. If a decision was made in June to hold off on Master Tape until the end of the year, they should inform the subscribers in June about their decision.

I wrote to the tapes team after the third repeat performance and again and again and again throughout the last four months of repeats. Do you know how many times someone, anyone got back to me?....NEVER.

So, the subscribers are left to theorize as to why a product is being kept off of the shelves for consumption.

If the tapes are in a bad way and need a lot of tender loving care, then there's absolutely no chance of making any real dent into the 23,000 hours of tape they have at their disposal. Hmmm, disposal...interesting.

In any case, I do think that there should be at least one person manning the Master Tape ship throughout the third year of Howard's five year contract.

I have to think that if Bubba left the table in November and started to broadcast exclusively on terrestrial radio that the tapes team would be working on getting out some Master Tape episodes to fill the void.

I agree with you here. Such a huge deal was made about "THE TAPES!" (cue the angel choir), it wouldn't really have hurt anyone to bloody mention what the deal is. It's not like this stuff happens in a vacuum and no one will notice. Sometimes for a guy who doesn't want to rip off his fans by selling them chotchkes and whatnot, he often forgets that even the free stuff can leave a bad taste in the mouth when it seems like it's an afterthought.

the channels are not even 3 years old, the best is of course howard, bubba, ferrall the fillins which are the wrapup, thesfr, miserable man, now the need to add, thers a contest, they are looking for new talent, its not easy putting together even one hour,i have asked tim about mastertape, i liked it on friday, and i liked hearing the replay on sunday, i explained to him, so when monday rolls around everything from the prior wek is fresh in your head, he said everyone has a different take on it so they are experimenting.to me tim has to be diplomatic for that position, he is dealing with top brass , howard, and crazy fans like me every now and then, but one thing you all have to agree on is, where in the world would fans get to be such a big part of creating something, no where but at sirius, thankyou mariann

Glad to hear that MFB is on our side. The experiment of Best of the Week is a failure. You had two really good options before....go back to one of them.

They have 11 months for the second Howard special. I'm sure if they wanted to, they could put together a years worth of MTT's in one of those months.

I dont think the tapes team is very good-a few months ago they asked Mutt to ask people on Sfn if the had any old shows on mp3 to help with history of stern special.
