There's been talk that the xB is ugly (it isn't), which made me think about the ugliest car I've seen on the streets lately:

The Dodge Caliber. Every time I see it I cringe. It's like a bad wreck even before it's wrecked - so horrible that I can't help but stare at it. The gratuitous folds around the base look like granny's swollen ankles spilling out around her tight shoes. The hideous black vinyl strips tacked above the windows must be a failed effort to make it look smaller. Why else would they be there?

Who buys these things? What are they thinking?

The square or box look does not impress me one bit.

Right now I'm on the market, and hope to purchase soon. I plan on taking advantage of the weak economy, and get a great price on a new car. I don't usually buy brand new, but figure I'll treat myself since I feel I can get a good deal with the economy the way it is. Those with cash get to take advantage of the national financial short falls. I have had mostly American cars in the past. Not this time though. I was thinking about a VW rabbit, or a Honda sport fit. Don't know yet though. Have to get up close to check them out more first.

This is kind of one of those topics that folks will have a rainbow of opinions on what car is ugly, and what is not. The great thing is cars of all kinds available to fit all our different personalities, and needs. Definitely no xb in my future though. I did not notice anything ugly about the dodge caliber posted above, but not something I would buy either. I always lean toward a sport version of whatever brand. Those versions seems nicer on my eyes.

The Italians might have the world's ugly vehicle crown with the Fiat Multipla.. Good thing they don't sell them in North America.. I might get sick :)

Well it is like I said "Beauty in in the eye of the beholder" what others think of the Scion xB is totally irrelevant to me. I love the looks and I love the the room inside and the feeling I get when I drive it.

But in my opinion the Scion xB is a great car and I just happen to love the way they look. I'd hardly call them ugly. I think there are a lot of vehicles out there that I'd consider way uglier.

Here not long ago I was getting gas at a service station and they guy came up to me who was in one of those big Dodge Ram trucks. He said.. man that thing is ugly and what real use is it. I said, well I didn't buy it to make anyone happy but myself and I'll tell what good it is. You just spent right at $100 filling up your tank. I just spent $30 I can go probably about 3 times as many miles as you can. You probably paid what almost 30 plus grand for that fancy truck, I wrote a check for mine $12,000. He quickly got his butt back over to his truck and never said another word.

DAB reminded me of something...

There's tons of Hummers around here. They're ugly. But most importantly, 90% of the time, there's only ONE person in these huge things. The driver.

Yes, those are very ugly, but those that have them seem to really like them. But the MPG on them is horrible and like you said usually one person riding in them. Makes no sense to me.

You say "hummer" like it's a bad thing.:D

Well just ask GM about the "Hummer" because of their love affair with it, Toyota and other companies have eaten their lunch, because they were simply not ready when the gas prices sky rocketed. I like the "Hummer", but for what they sell them for and the MPG, I'd NEVER buy one.

DAB, just lik you pretty much said, different strokes for different folks.

I drive an F-150 myself, but Im glad you put that ass at the gas station in his place. I'll never understand why people worry so much about what other people do.

Now the F-150 I love, but I just don't have a need for one. Those are some of the toughest freaking trucks around. I had an old Ford Ranger for a company vehicle and I drove the tires off that baby before I finally sold it and got a van. (Yuk)

We all buy vehicles to meet our various needs and all have different likes and dislikes. I like the Scion xB because it allows me to carry up to 4 passengers, plus I can still haul stuff when I need too and of course because I travel a lot the MPG is a huge plus, ugly or not.

hehehe :egypt:
